Due in a couple of weeks and struggling for both girls and boys names that we both love. We have a girls shortlist which i'd appreciate your views on:-

Emmeline
Rose/Rosa
Genevieve
Elizabeth nn. Betty
Matilda
Esther
Juniper nn. Juno

Really stuck for any boys names as we have used our two favourites on our DS1 and DS2, Joseph and Arthur. Any inspiration would be welcome.

Love all your girls names except Juniper, a bit out there and doesn't go with your DSs names. Also like Constance for a girl. For boys

Fabian
Nathaniel
Rufus
Raphael
Reuben

I love Juniper. Genevieve is nice too, but hard to spell.

Emmeline - maybe yes
Rose/Rosa - too many Roses already, Rosa is more interesting
Genevieve - like a lot, sophisticated, vivacious and can be Jenny or Eve / Evie too.
Elizabeth nn. Betty - hmm, Elizabeth is classic but Betty is a bit deliberately nostalgic, ref 50s / 60s. Why not Beth, Eliza or Lizzie (and why can't children choose their own nicknames, or wait for them to emerge?)
Matilda - like
Esther - like
Juniper nn. Juno - Juno's ok

I like all your list really

Emmeline - yes, like a lot esp the suffragete connotations
Rose/Rosa - like both but would choose Rosa myself (again lots of good connotations, esp Rosa Parks)
Genevieve - like, but what would you shorten to?
Elizabeth nn. Betty - Like Elizabeth, Betty isn't my fave shortening, but still good
Matilda - good name, but seems very heavily used right now, I wouldn't go for that one
Esther - good strong name but not my fave of your list
Juniper nn. Juno - I think I'm going to go against the crowd & say I like this one the best, especially the nn Juno.

I like Emmeline, Rosa an Elizabeth of your girls list. Not as keen on Matilda, Esther or Juniper.

Suggesting Eloise, Louisa, and Elsa.

I love the name Joseph (have an 8 week old one :) ).

Suggesting Isaac, Samuel and Elijah.

Thanks for all the opinions.

Juniper seems to be a love or hate name. I love it but my husband isn't keen , so it's off the list. Matilda is my husband's favourite but i'm not so keen, and there is a view that although lovely, it's suddenly become popular, so it's off the list.
Esther is our joint least favourite of the rest so it's off the list too. So we're left with:-

Emmeline
Rose/Rosa
Elizabeth (Lots of negative comments on Betty, but I do really like it)
Genevieve ? nn. Jen/Jenna/Gen/Genna

Thanks for the boys name suggestions. I like Dominic and Leo.( I like a few of the others too but some are already taken by family and close friends.) Boys names are so difficult.

Any more suggestions/opinions very welcome.

I have a Rosa, and Emmeline is top of my list if I ever have another girl, so think we have similiar taste!

I love Elizabeth too - less keen on Genevieve.

Dominic and Louis are my all time favourite boys' names.

I also love:
Vanessa
Susannah
Juliet
Eloise

Love Matilda and Esther. I also really like Miriam. And Rita.

For boys, how about Felix, Lawrence, Leon, Frank or Hector?

Also, I think Juniper would end up being shortened to Juney, which would be quite terrible imo.

Emmeline - not keen
Rose/Rosa - fab
Genevieve - love in theory, but the pronunciation is always a bugger with this
Elizabeth nn. Betty - fab
Matilda - pretty trendy, and somehow deeply unfeminine to my ears.
Esther - not keen unless using Spanish pronunciation, which seems unlikely!
Juniper nn. Juno - not keen

Boy suggestions: Dominic, James, Leo
