I'm 29 weeks pregnant, sorted on girls names but struggling with boys names. DS is George - evidently we like 'normal' names, and I know friends and family would be Hmm (and not afraid of letting us know it) if we chose anything too unusual. Which shouldn't be a problem, but I do fear that i'd be a little put off a name if I got that sort of reaction.

anyway, I do like the bame Winston (prob nn Win) and surprisingly DH was quite keen too when I suggested it. I d

Oops posted too soon.

I don't want to ask for RL opinions yet (or poss at all) so thought I'd gauge reaction on here first. So please, be honest (but nice, please)!

It's actually quite cute and not the worst of the grandad-chic names by a long chalk. It wouldn't be for me but it's a perfectly nice name.

Were you watching 'Nowhere Boy' last night by any chance?

I had a brief second during that when thought 'what a cool name' and then i remembered Winston Churchill; that bastard who wanted to sterilise poor people.

Thanks. Now grandad chic is something I'm not normally keen on (dislike Alfie, Bertie etc) so if that's the way people see the name it might not be for me. I just don't know. Flipping heck, choosing boys names is soooooo hard.

I like it.

And Churchill recanted and apologised for his views on eugenics.

And please excuse typos.

I do like the name, shouldn't be put off by other people's reactions I suppose, but I know I will be.

I liked Robin for DS but other people reacted badly when I suggested it, ended up using it for his middle name (and kind if wish I'd used it as first name, or nor used it all so I could use it for DS2 - if indeed it is a DS2 and not a DD!).

I'm not a fan - it reminds me of the extra in eastenders - black guy who works in the Market - never speaks, my DP also named his cat Winston after this guy lol
Should probably remind me of Churchill but it doesn't lol sorry not keen thunk there are much better names out there!
