Hi

I am due in 2 weeks and we don't know if its a girl or boy. My DH came up with the name Flynn which I really like but it means something like "son of a red-haired one" needless to say none of us have red hair so would it be silly to use this name?

The meaning wouldn't put me off.

However, the fact that there are dozens of them in every playground would.

I like Flynn. Think there too many Finns but not heard of any Flynns round my way...(SE)

The meaning doesn't matter a jot i don't think.

Flynn seems to be quite popular ATM but if you like it go for it. My friends little boy is Flynn and they don't have red hair, neither do Orlando Bloom or Miranda Kerr and their baby is Flynn. So I wouldn't let it put you off.

Wow I have never heard of anyone called Flynn here (Scotland) so it's interesting that it's very popular in other areas! Will do some more research - it's the hardest thing ever to pick a name for your baby Shock

Love it! It's DS's middle name and I think it's great. Who would know what it means? I've never met a Flynn so I wouldn't think it was popular. Finn, yes but I think Flynn is nicer :)

I love the name Flynn - I know of one other who's about 6. I also like Finn, but have been put off a bit as so widely used. Wouldn't worry about the meaning at all.

Waka I think I recognise your name from some of the MC threads last year - if I've remembered correctly, SO happy for you that you're getting so close to a babe in arms :).

Gorgeous. Like Errol Flynn the great swashbuckler!

I don't think anyone would associate it with redheadedness.

I know loads of kids and it's one of the few names I've never come across. Wouldn't worry about the meaning, no one will know anyway!
