I am having our third baby (not right this moment though) and am thinking of the following names. If you have any thoughts on the matter, please let me know what you like.

Boys
Christian (nn Kit)
Hector (nn Tor)
Dashiell (nn Dash)
Angus

Edward or Benjamin for middle name.

Girls
Claudia
Valentina (poss nn Nina)

No middle names yet.

Already have a Penelope (Pen, Penny, Penelope) and a Constance (Connie) who are 2 and 1 respectively. <tired>

Am not easily offended.

Thanks!

Oh my GOD - EPIC FAIL on the thread title. I always wonder who that moron is who does that AND IT IS ME!

Dashiell, not Dahiel! How did that happen? <face palm>

wellwisher Sun 25-Sep-11 19:28:51

Really don't like Hector - I always think of how it means to boss someone about/tell them off.

Like Angus - why not nn Gus though?

Boobz Sun 25-Sep-11 19:44:56

I like Gus as a nn but DH said he would probably just call him Angus. But Dashiell is DH's favourite boy's name at the moment..

DigOfTheStump Sun 25-Sep-11 19:49:55

Love your daughters' names, they are great, Penelope in particular is totally underused, Penny is lovely.

Boys
Christian (nn Kit) LOVE
Hector (nn Tor) LOVE, thogh would stick to Hector
Dashiell (nn Dash) like Dash, hate Dashiell
Angus very nice

Edward or Benjamin for middle name. Both lovely

Girls
Claudia Nice, but not as English as your other two names.
Valentina (poss nn Nina) as above ( and really dislike Nina).

I would suggest Juliet as a third DD name.

Bunbaker Sun 25-Sep-11 19:52:38

"Penelope in particular is totally underused, Penny is lovely."

grin It's my middle name.

Boobz Sun 25-Sep-11 19:54:59

That's totally spooky Digofthestump - I was toying of the idea of putting Juliet down on the list above as I love it, but my DH isn't keen (might overrule anyway though).

DigOfTheStump Sun 25-Sep-11 19:57:33

LOL,I just think it goes very well with your other two.

LetThereBeRock Sun 25-Sep-11 20:07:08

I don't like Hector. Christian is nice, and Kit is great, but Angus is my favourite. Dashiell is very nice too.

Claudia is beautiful. I love your dd's names. You have excellent taste.

scarlettlips Sun 25-Sep-11 20:24:44

I also think your DD's name's are lovely. Might just come to you for naming future DC's grin
In order:
Kit - I want one...it's on our list! Not keen on Christian through.
Hector - Like a lot, but I don't think you need a nn.
Angus - Love
Dashiell (nn Dash) Not my cup of tea, but no horrid.

Edward or Benjamin for middle name - Great names.

Claudia - Again on our list...LOVE.
Valentina (poss nn Nina) Really like this, but not keen on Nina.

May i chuck Angelica, Davina and Marina into the ring?

Love Christian/Kit
Love Hector but hate Tor
Love Edward and Benjamin
Like Claudia

Don't like Angus or Dashiell/Dash or Valentina. Love Constance and like Penelope!

DigOfTheStump Sun 25-Sep-11 20:42:14

Vivienne is another contender, I feel.

mopsyflopsy Sun 25-Sep-11 21:10:56

I like Angus and Dashiell. Hector means to bully/torment and a hector is a bully, so not a great association imo. I do like Tor on its own and know a lovley one.

Love Valentina - so pretty and feminine. The meaning of Claudia (lame, disabled) would put me off, sorry.

wellwisher Sun 25-Sep-11 22:23:30

I think of Tor as a girl's nickname - short for Victoria...

ForYourDreamsAreChina Mon 26-Sep-11 06:32:03

I love your daughters' names, but think you need to go back to the drawing board with the list, because none of them are a patch on Penelope and Constance!

<helpful> grin

Boobz Mon 26-Sep-11 08:44:40

Give me your top 3 of each then Foryourdreamsarechina....

Boobz Mon 26-Sep-11 08:46:04

Scarlet lips... Like Davina but surely too associated with one person now?

Boobz Mon 26-Sep-11 08:49:54

I like Vivienne, Vivi for short, but would worry it would go to jus Viv and I knew an old lady Viv growing up and it doesn't really work for me now.

Boobz Mon 26-Sep-11 08:51:47

What do people think of Juliet then, to go with my current 2 daughters...? Is Kit winning for the boys then?

GooseyLoosey Mon 26-Sep-11 08:57:00

Kit and Claudia for me.

wellwisher Mon 26-Sep-11 09:19:23

I think Juliet is a better fit with Penelope and Constance. You could also try out Florence, Henrietta (nn Hettie)...

Boobz Mon 26-Sep-11 09:22:47

Florence too popular right now... Henrietta too much like Phillipa or willamena... Making a girls namy out of a boy's... But same could be said for Claudia I suppose...

Excuse typos, am on iPad.

Tillyscoutsmum Mon 26-Sep-11 09:24:22

Angus and Claudia for me. Both really lovely smile

scarlettlips Mon 26-Sep-11 09:33:39

Boobz Is it because of THIS IS DAVINA etc etc? I get what you're say, but in IMO no I don't think so. In several years time it will be long forgotten.

What do you think when you hear the name William? I don't think of Prince William..I hear a lovely name?

Juliet is lovely and very unused, not as keen of Vivienne (girl at school, urghh) Henrietta is charming.

Boobz Mon 26-Sep-11 10:20:08

I know in years to come it will be forgotten, but probably at least 5 years, and that's a bit long for me. Not the same as William as it's not such an unusual name as Davina...

Defo no to Henrietta.

Valentina's not doing as well as I'd hoped... I thought it went really well with Penelope and Constance!
