boy or girl?

if this is your question then Boy and yeah I think its nice, one of my best mates names.

MyRightToAdvice Tue 20-Sep-11 10:13:56

Boy

MyRightToAdvice Tue 20-Sep-11 10:14:35

If it was a girl it'd be Darrell, but I read far too much Malory Towers when I was kid to choose that for a girl!

Meteorite Tue 20-Sep-11 10:16:58

I assumed it was a girls name, as in Daryl Hannah

... although it does also sound a bit like Darren.

MyRightToAdvice Tue 20-Sep-11 11:33:09

Hmm, well this was my slight concern, that some people would consider it a bit girly. I don't like it with one 'r' by the way! wink
I don't like "Darren" either.

RedRubyBlue Tue 20-Sep-11 11:35:55

I knew a Daryl (male) and he did get the 'Darren' thing quite a lot.

pinkgirlythoughts Tue 20-Sep-11 11:55:36

The only 'real life' Darryl I know is a man, but I do always think 'girl' when I hear it (another Malory Towers fan over here!).

To me its an 80s/early 90s name, I don't think its time has come around again yet.

UrsulaWoleffay Tue 20-Sep-11 12:38:28

It's awful

LaBag Tue 20-Sep-11 12:40:35

No. Don't do that to a poor child.

brodanbell Tue 20-Sep-11 13:07:08

Awful. I knew a male Darryll (double R& L for extra effect). To me it is very naff, and I would put it in the same category as Darren, Kevin, Trevor, Derek, Wayne etc.

MatLeaveForever Tue 20-Sep-11 13:18:49

Makes me think of Daryll from Birds of a Feather, sorry!

PippiLongBottom Tue 20-Sep-11 13:29:56

Good god no. That is all.

MyRightToAdvice Tue 20-Sep-11 18:38:43

Oh dear. yes I see what you mean. Back to the drawing board then! grin

We're not intending on 'trying' for another year so plenty of time!! I'm getting rather obsessed about it stupidly early though hmm. With dd, she was always going to be what she is even before i had any intention of having children! Struggled with boys' names when i was pg with her. If she was a boy she might have ended up with the male equivalent of her name tbh...don't have that option now! grin
