It was Cara, which I love, but then I heard Cora, on Downton Abbey last night and thought what a nice name Cora is.

Thoughts much appreciated.

Cora says older Irish woman to me. Lots of them in my mother's generation (now 70s). I had two teachers with this name.

I prefer Corinne.

I prefer Cara. It has a lovely meaning.

Cora sounds like corer, for removing the cores of apples.

I think I prefer Cora.

Cora. It's more classic. There was a Cora in Last of the Mohicans wasn't there?

PippiLongBottom Mon 19-Sep-11 16:48:41

Cora, definitely. I met someone called it recently and I loved it.

I think we're erring towards Cara. Do like Cora though.

Cara means 'friend' - it's a beautiful name and I have it earmarked for my future puppy. (sorry, not really helpful) grin

JennyPiccolo Mon 19-Sep-11 20:16:19

Cara means 'beloved' in gaelic and 'darling' or 'expensive' in italian.

MelinaM Mon 19-Sep-11 20:18:24

I think Cara is lovely and was nearly my DD's name. Cora is nice too, but I like the meaning of Cara. Both good choices!

Cora!!

Cora is gorgeous.

Cara was popular in the 80s on the grotty estate I grew up on, so off-putting to me!

gazzalw Mon 19-Sep-11 20:44:06

Cora is beautiful!
