What do you think?

I love it

lchodge Mon 19-Sep-11 11:26:35

How is it pronounced?

TrillianAstra Mon 19-Sep-11 11:26:57

TrillianAstra Mon 19-Sep-11 11:27:39

Somewhere between guy-us and g-eye-us.

Emphasis on the ai

lchodge Mon 19-Sep-11 11:29:30

Definitely not for me!

GooseyLoosey Mon 19-Sep-11 11:29:42

Too Roman for me. Don't know why that's a problem for me, but it is.

MmeLindor. Mon 19-Sep-11 11:30:58

No one will know how to pronounce it.

And, sorry, but it is incredibly poncy.

TopazMortmain Mon 19-Sep-11 11:31:57

I would use Caius

I love it as a name, but, I mean, realistically - look at it. When he is a teenager the other boys WILL call him GAY-ARSE. They just will.

NotADudeExactly Mon 19-Sep-11 11:36:47

I was told anything Roman or Greek was trying too hard a while ago, though frankly I disagree, so that part is fine IMHO.

Middle name Julius?

TrillianAstra Mon 19-Sep-11 11:37:59

So... really... this is who you're thinking of, isn't it?

sfxmum Mon 19-Sep-11 11:38:11

Trillian beat me to it

Fairyloo Mon 19-Sep-11 11:39:38

Pronounced guy us

MmeLindor. Mon 19-Sep-11 11:41:55

Julius, Maximilian, Cassandra - there are plenty of Roman/Greek names that are lovely and not at all poncy.

But Gaius is a step too far, imo.

NotADudeExactly Mon 19-Sep-11 11:53:48

Okay, I'll have to add the qualification that I have decent Latin and at least some Greek. I consider it a hobby.

You might not want to consider my views on the subject average. I am planning on calling my daughter Persephone unless MN can talk some sense into me. grin

Rhubarbgarden Mon 19-Sep-11 12:47:19

I rather like it, but it is ponce-tastic.

pinkytheshrinky Mon 19-Sep-11 12:48:39

Great name, absolutely fantastic

Oh god no. The poor little sod will have the piss RIPPED out of him.
No. Non. Absolutely not. No.

MmeLindor. Mon 19-Sep-11 13:29:05

Eek, what happened here? Did it get all contentious?

(not really, just getting into the game)

Guess we all said the same thing - the obvious response. I did mean it tongue in cheek ... Maybe i should have used an emoticon.
