What ones do we say an absolute NO to and what ones do we say okay/maybe to?
We have told them (there are 4) that at least one of the names they pick will be used (fn or mn) - Ohh and we are expecting faternal twins

So what do you think?

Girl

Mona
Rosie
Mina
Fallon
Leia
Dorcas
Alice/Alicia
Jessica
Miranda
Susan/Suki
Lorelai
Alexi
Matilda

Boys

Jim
Jem
Jack
Rory
Jerome
Rufus
Eric
Russell
Luke
Matt
Flynn
Felix

I like all of the boys names except Eric.
Out of all of the boys names my favourites are Luke, Rory or Jim

The girls names are more of a mixed bag.
I like Rosie, Alice, or Miranda. Not so keen on the others.

Girls maybes

Rosie
Matilda (I would use Tilly though)

All others NO ,- sorry

Boys maybes

Luke

All others No - really sorry

Not much help am I? But I have answered honestly. The ones I've said No to I don't hate though, just don't think 'ooh yes, lovely'

Shouldn't naming your children by your (i.e the parents) decision? Sure, you can get your kids to feel they're involved by perhaps showing them some options that you've pre-chosen and let them have a say.

But for what it's worth I like Mona, Mina, Alice, Jerome, Eric and Flynn.

Mona - I actually like it - but would have to fit with other names or would stand out like a sore thumb
Rosie - Only if short for something or as a mn
Mina - like
Fallon - nope
Leia - it is alright
Dorcas - no no no
Alice/Alicia - Alice nope Alicia I like
Jessica - No
Miranda - No
Susan/Suki - Susannah with Suki as a nn would be alright.
Lorelai - Nope (do your DC watch gilmore?)
Alexi - Alexa or Alexia are nice
Matilda - It is alright like nn Matty

Boys

Jim - ohh I see. as a mn
Jem - Nope
Jack - yeah
Rory - it is alright
Jerome - ewww
Rufus - sorry nope
Eric - NO
Russell - Ross is far nicer
Luke - I do like it
Matt - If you had matilda no, but I like matthew
Flynn
Felix - I know cats but i like it (would go with Mona or Mina or matilda)

I like the idea of other DCs helping name.
Actually Luka and Leia or Rosie and Jim (not twins but friends but there we go) If you had as mn would be cool (only because) it was their siblings choice.

Your children have lovely ideas, lots of classic and interesting names. My sister was named after one of my suggestions and it is always brought up at birthdays etc as a lovely family story.

The better ten IMHO are:

Rosie
Alice
Miranda
Susan/Suki
Lorelai (prefer Lorelei)

Jim
Jem
Rufus
Eric
Felix

I get the feeling your kids have really thought about it as none of them are obviously cartoon characters or plain silly. That in itselft is very, very cute.

I'm keen to use my 12 year old daughters favourite name if I can, partly because it's good, but just as much if not more so because she put so much consideration into it, bless her.

Please please don't use Dorcas, it's so ugly and will result in dork/dorky nicknames. TBH, the only ones I personally would consider from your lists are Jessica, Alice, Matilda, Jack, Luke and Flynn. But that's just me. Good luck and best wishes.

Mona, Mina, Susan/Suki, Matilda

Rory,Russell,Felix. And Fin over Flynn

I only really like Rosie and Luke from your lists. But as someone else said, a lot I don't hate, just don't like enough to use!

But I have identical twin boys called Luke and Jake so biased a little I guess Grin

And agree Dorcas is horrible. There was a midwife called Dorcas in my hospital, and even the other adults had a snigger when introducing her.

Rosie and Luke although not massively keen on either. I think MelinaM's suggestion to let your kids pick the middle names instead is a good idea. That way they all get a say.

...I meant to add your DC's have chosen some lovely names so just find a good combination and you're all set! Smile
