flower middle name, one syllable

Both our previous dd's have had a flower name in their name somewhere, so we'd like to repeat this if dc3 is a girl. But the first name and second middle name are both quite long, so it needs to be a short flower name, with one, or at a push two syllables. Obviously I already have Rose and May on the list, but are there any others?

Fleur?

Lancelottie Fri 16-Sep-11 16:08:46

Or with two, you have loads:
Jasmine
Iris
Poppy
Daisy
Lily
Rowan

Belle (as in Bluebell) ?

A bit of a stretch, but pretty grin

Plonker Fri 16-Sep-11 16:11:33

Also, Fearne?

circusclown Fri 16-Sep-11 16:12:28

Don't like Fleur - no reason!

My girls have quite unusual names, so Lily and Daisy etc don't really cut it. Anything a bit more unusual?

circusclown Fri 16-Sep-11 16:13:17

Prefer Fern spelling, but it's not really my cup of tea tbh.

My first thought was Fleur too.

Otherwise:
Tansy
Pansy
Willow
Primrose

I love Phlox...!?

circusclown Fri 16-Sep-11 16:26:36

Ooh, phlox is interesting, but maybe a bit too strange...

If it helps, names I love but can't use as they are too long are:

Honeysuckle
Columbine
Camellia
Peony

So along those lines, please, but just shorter!

Struggling for one syllable names

May?

hellhasnofury Fri 16-Sep-11 16:29:01

Cancel May then. Must put my bloody glasses on to read the phone screen

CaptainNancy Fri 16-Sep-11 16:33:17

Rue
Gorse
Thrift

I'm guessing Gypsophilia is a no-no? grin

Not many flowers with 1 syllable!

Ivy
Jasmine
Tulip
Violet
Hebe
Myrtle
Jacinth
Cherry
Holly

OddBoots Fri 16-Sep-11 16:34:24

Lilac, Aster or Lotus? (2 syllables but short)

SheWhoMustNotBeFlamed Fri 16-Sep-11 16:37:19

May is a flower (well, a flowering tree)!

Balm
Rose
Mint
Pink
Sage
Thyme
Vine
Fern

um ... Woad

circusclown Fri 16-Sep-11 16:38:52

Love Hebe, but it doesn't work with the other two names. Grrr. Didn't think this would be so hard, but now I've thought of doing it I really want to! Boring old Rose or May it is then...

CaptainNancy Fri 16-Sep-11 16:42:25

Bay?

meditrina Fri 16-Sep-11 16:44:56

Where's my Thompson and Morgan when I need it?

This is going to be difficult - does it really have to be just one syllable?

Floss, Stock, Sage?

(Discovered when browsing that the Latin name for the butterfly pea is Clitoria Ternatea - that really won't do, will it?)

Tinkerisdead Fri 16-Sep-11 16:47:33

Can we know the potential first name then we could give ideas that work well rather than just 1 syllable?

mavornia Fri 16-Sep-11 17:12:19

Whata bout Lark or Wren - not flowers but still nature-themed. I love them both as middle names.

minipie Fri 16-Sep-11 17:30:09

Briar
Anise
Aster
Cerise
Clover
Lilac
Posy
Sorrel

Not one syllable, but short and unusual.

CointreauVersial Fri 16-Sep-11 17:32:15

I know a Sage, but he's a boy.

meditrina Fri 16-Sep-11 18:14:38

French for flax is Lin. Any good?

pilates Fri 16-Sep-11 18:15:32

Iris

meditrina Fri 16-Sep-11 18:16:58

And on the same theme, French for Lily is Lis (or Lys as in fleur de lys).
