DH has a desire to have a Z boys name but I'm not completely sold. But what do you think of these?

Zeke
Zac (Zak/Zack/Zach) or Zachariah (or variants)
Zain (Zayn/Zaine/Zane)
Zaid
Zavier
Zeff
Zeb/Zebedee

Ezekiel -Zeke would be nice?

Zain, Zaid, Zavier (Xavier) and Zeff are awful!

Zebedee, is that not a character from The Magic Roundabout? Grin

Yep he was the jack-in-the-box but he is also the father of StJohn and StJames

I think Zachariah/Zakariya is lovely, and has good nn potential.

Zebedee would make me think "Magic Roundabout", Zeke/Zico both strike me as nns for Eziekiel, Zane doesn't do it for me (sorry) nor does Zaid. I've never come across Zeff, and would be concerned it would be taken as something kr8ive (which might not bother you, of course). Xavier isn't a "z" name, really.

You might also like to think about: Zadok, Zarathustra, Zeno, Zlatan and Zdenko?

Zeke, Zac and variants - like. Nice, strong names.

Zain, Zaid, Zavier, Zeff - dislike (unless you spelled it Xavier)

Zebedee - not so keen, but Zeb - like. If the Magic Roundabout link bothers you, you could always name him Zebedee but call him Zeb.

What about Zadok, Zebulun, Zeus, Zeno, Zoltan or Ziv? They're all real names.

Actually, I quite like Zeno.

Zeke, Zac or Zane are fine
Zaid, Zavier, Zeff - nope horrible
Zeb I really like. and would our DC generation get the magic roundabout about Zebedee.

I also like Zeno.

Zebedee nickname Zeb is lovely. No idea what the magic roundabout is...

Zeke - nice as short for Ezekiel
Zac (Zak/Zack/Zach) or Zachariah - like Zach as nn for Zachariah or Zachary
Zain (Zayn/Zaine/Zane) - don't like
Zaid - don't like
Zavier - would spell Xavier
Zeff - dislike
Zeb/Zebedee - like, underused Biblical name

tammytoby, the magic roundabout is/was a children's programme, with a jack-in-the-box called Zebedee. Every episode ended with "Time for Bed!" says Zebedee; "Brush your teeth" says Florence. (Florence was a flower eating cow in a hat.)

I also would spell Xavier with an "X"

Definitely not "Zeff" - if I met a Zeff, I'd assume he was a Geoff with a lisp.

I know two Zanders, both nn for Alexander, but it works as a name in its own right too, I think.

Thank youSmile

Zeff reminds me of Zephyr ..another possibility perhaps?

My favourite is Zeb - cool and underused. I think most kids wouldn't have a clue who Zebedee from the magic roundabout is. And even if they do, so what. What about Florence the flower - nobody is put off that name?

I don't like Zac/Zach as it sounds so harsh and incomplete to my ears. Already used quite a lot as well.

So, I'd go for Zebedee, nickname Zeb!

Zeke -- nice if short for Ezekiel
Zac (Zak/Zack/Zach) or Zachariah -- Zakariah or Zachariah lovely and Zac/Zak is a nice nn.
Zain -- Zane is nice (Zane Grey western novels are a happy memory).
Zaid -- depends on pronunciation and whether you have a middle eastern heritage.
Zavier -- should be spelled Xavier, so not really a Z name.
Zeff -- no
Zeb/Zebedee nice. Only old people-- people above a certain age will recall TMR

There's also Isaac, which could give the nn Zac, and Zacchaeus.

Also:
Zoran
Zubin
Zedekiah

The only one I like is Zeke, short for Ezekiel. Zac is dull and the others are all try hard and sound quite made up, to be honest.

Zeke - Would need to be nickname for Ezeikial then ok.
Zac (Zak/Zack/Zach) or Zachariah (or variants) - Both fine and ordinary, I prefer Zachary to Zachariah.
Zain (Zayn/Zaine/Zane) - It's quite cool but is in definite chav territory.
Zaid - No quite weird.
Zavier - Awful spelt like that but Xavier is fab and my favourite by miles.
Zeff - I actually laughed out loud at the thought of someone introducing themselves as Zeff.
Zeb/Zebedee - No a bit silly.

Zebedee is also used as a nn for people who do a lot of coke or speed

I have a Zacharias, although he tends to refer to himself as Zach which I wasn't keen on but have gotten used to.

Picked it because it was traditional but not heard much around my way.

Zaccheus is my (2nd) favourite from that list.
