Now you see i like this name.....before it gets suggested instead let me say i do not like Finn as just too popular round these it just totally ridiculous? My sister likes it too and she is way more sensible than me usually.....wink

Oh give over.

CurwySwide Fri 09-Sep-11 20:50:46

Bear Grylls has a son called Huckleberry. Just saying

SoupDragon Fri 09-Sep-11 20:51:32

Why the hell would you do that to a child?

Greythorne Fri 09-Sep-11 20:53:15

Love it, was on my shortlist but had two girls.
Fab. Shortened to Huck.
Do it.

Scarletbanner Fri 09-Sep-11 20:54:15

I like Huck but not a fan of Huckleberry.

stripeybump Fri 09-Sep-11 20:55:39

Imagine shouting 'Huck' in a strop in Waitrose though. Sounds like fuck a bit too much.

boodleboot Fri 09-Sep-11 21:15:12

i hear all of you and my split personality is saying 'oh give over' too.... smile

but i can't help wishing i was brave enough to use it as i love just sounds so adventurous and romantic....

mayanna123 Fri 09-Sep-11 21:18:07

I love Huckleberry. Huck is a cool nickname.

happyhorse Fri 09-Sep-11 21:38:30

Why would you do that to a child? I bet you have a nice, boring name that's never caused you any trouble. Kids don't want romantic and adventerous - they want to blend in. And a name that rhymes with fuck is asking for trouble in the school corridors.

mayanna123 Fri 09-Sep-11 21:53:16

Is Huck any more teaseworthy than Will(y) or Ga(y)briel for example? Kids will tease any name if they want to.

Life is tricky enough without a daft name!

Tis cool for a cat!

LetThereBeRock Fri 09-Sep-11 22:27:39

It's dreadful.It's beyond ridiculous.

tummytickler Fri 09-Sep-11 22:31:55

I love it, but don't think I could ever use it. Very, very cool nn though

tummytickler Fri 09-Sep-11 22:32:23

Nope - I didn't mean nn, I meant very, very cool middle name!

meditrina Fri 09-Sep-11 22:32:43

Finn, Hound or (slightly bizarrely) the Rockabilly Rebels single (OK, that was 'Do the Hucklebuck' but it still came to mind).

Ooh id forgotten how peed off some mners get when u suggest faintly ridiculous names....great to be back!!! My name is uncommon and often pronounced wrong but to be honest anybody who is anybody worthwhile in ur life only gets it wrong once so its never bothered me. I would of hated a common safe dare i say it 'boring' name......but then im romantic and adventurous ;)

All that said my 3 dcs have classic tasteful names as no matter how gorge i think huckleberry is i generally see sense when presented with squishy newborns....and fuckleberry shouted down a menacing school corridor is pretty horrendous i must admit!!!!

MelinaM Fri 09-Sep-11 23:45:05

I rather like it ..but then I am absolutely barkinggrin

meditrina Fri 09-Sep-11 23:54:26

Barking? Back to Huckleberry Hound, then!

NorkyPies Sat 10-Sep-11 00:02:25

No, but Berry is nice.

SoupDragon Sat 10-Sep-11 08:35:02

If you love it so much, change your name by deed poll. You may be brave enough but why should your child have to live with the fallout from your bravery?

boodleboot Sat 10-Sep-11 17:33:10

Yes ok soupdragon i'll change my name to huckleberry then. What a good idea.....thanks for the suggestion.
