Can't choose between these two - help...

I've been toying with the idea of asking for help here for a week or two. What has held me back are the negative comments that some people post in response to others name ideas - so if you are a 'hater' / have nothing nice to say please don't respond to my question, I like my name choices & I'm finding it hard enough to choose as it is.
If however you are open & up for helping me I'd love to hear from you:-)

We have two names that we really like. They both include middle names BUT we don't necessarily envisage that the middle name will be used with the first name - more likely just as a pet name within the family if at all.

Elvie Frida Jacob
Marnie Maude Jacob

OR I guess we could go for Elvie Maude or Marnie Frida...
We did really like Elsie but my husband is worried that this might become popular over the next few years???

Thanks loads in advance for taking the time to help x

I would go with Marnie Frida, it sounds beautiful! Also if your OH is worried about Elise (which is a lovely name) becoming popular then how about Eloise? Marnie Eloise is lovely :)

I think the second versions are better Elvie Maude and Marnie Frida because that way there is more contrast in the name - Marnie and Maude sound a bit too similar to go together IMO!

Of the two I prefer Marnie but I do like Elsie better (and have you thought about Elsa? I love that!) I don't think Elsie is massively popular but you do hear it now and again - definitely more than Marnie.

Thanks - you're right Marnie Eloise is lovely x

I like Marnie Maude :) Both quite unusual and pretty names.

Elvie reminds me of elves (sorry!) and personally I am not keen on Frida.

Elsie is lovely. How about Elisabeth with Elsie for short? Elsie Maude would be nice.

Thanks proud foot - you're right about the contrast working well, hadn't really thought of it in that way x

I think Marnie has the edge over Elvie. I say this for 2 reasons; 1. it's one of the few names which is both strong and pretty sounding; 2. Elvie is quite similar to Evie which is popular at the moment, I can imagine people getting them mixed up as there will be a lot of Evies in this upcoming generation.

Both middle names are nice with Marnie. I like your choices overall.

Agree that Marnie Eloise is very nice :)

I would also go for Marnie Frida. I like the name Marnie a LOT but I think 2 ma names together might be a little bit too lyrical?

Loving Frida as your middle name choice - DC2 will have it as one of her middle names if she turns out to be a girl.
I Marnie Frida would be my favourite combination of your name choices - quite unusual, but not too 'out there'.

I really like Marnie Frida - both strong, unusual names

So glad I asked now - it's really good to get the feedback, especially as there are points I hadn't considered e.g. Elvie & Evie mix up etc

Any thoughts on spelling Marni / Marnie? x

I think Marnie Frida.

I would definaetly go with Marnie, but think Marnie Maud is a bit too rhyming.
So Marnie Elvie would be my choice.

Yes, too much alliteration in Marnie Maude - it also sounds like a bit of a cartoon character name to me in that set up - Minnie Mouse and Marnie Maude type thing.

I hope you don't think that's rude, I know you don't want to be torn apart! I like both names on theire own just not sure about together.

I like the Marnie spelling with an e.

I like Marnie, and prefer Maud(e) to Frida. Unlike some others here, I like the alliteration.

Elvie is a bit "fairy" for my taste.

I love Marnie- great name. Not quite so keen on Elvie, but like Sylvie as an alternative.

Prefer Elvira or Eve to Elvie (agree with the fact that there are billions of Evies about) Like both Marnie and Maude but not together. My only concern with Marnie is wether it sounds a bit like moany?

Maude Elvira would be my random choice Grin
Enjoy her - whatever her name is.

I don't like Marnie, I am afraid. Where I grew up it was the surname of a large family of travellers and they were troublemakers.
