I couldnt find any discussion on here about the name Lorne. It's a Scottish boys name. I think it's lovely, what do you think?

I liked it when reading a name book when I was pregnant, but DH wrinkled his nose at it and I completely forgot about it!

Sausage here too. I have met a bloke with this name though. I got over the sausage association fairly quickly.

I have a relation called this, but the family was from that area of scotland (weegiemum it is often spelt Firth of Lorne too, though I believe the 'official' form is without the e as you say). I think it's a lovely name.

It's OK. DH's brother is a Lorne, but he only ended up with the name because their mum was sure he was going to be a girl and had her heart set on 'Lorna' :o

I know two, one in his forties and one in his teens. Both named because of family associations with the Firth of Lorne.

Queen Victoria's daughter Louise married the Marquess of Lorne. They went to Canada, hence probably the Canadian connection. Also the family name was Campbell and I think that it goes very well with that surname!

I was a bit into QV when I was about 12 and the name Lorne really rang a bell...

Ooooh, poppyknot, ...one of the Lornes I know (or knew- haven't seen him since we left school 30 years ago) was a Lorne Campbell.

The teenage one also has a Scottish surname.

Like Lorne Greene from Bonanza. I like it, its nice like Linus, a name I love but husband associates it with Peanuts and we had 3 girls

It's the name of a really nice character on the TV show Angel, and apart from that I still think it's a very nice name :)

Yes (showing age), immed thought of Lorne Greene (poss not the best name if your surname is Greene though!). Lovely name and I did think boy not girl.
