Does this name conjure up images of the sea and a place for boats or is it an underused classic?

Does anyone know any RL Marinas?

The only Marina who springs to mind is the brassy blonde bit who was in Last of the Summer Wine, trying to have an affair with Pearl's drippy husband, what was his name?

There is one in Local Hero which obviously is an amazing film.

I like it.

There's a Marina near me, so it conjures up an image of a tacky seagull-filled shopping centre with an ASDA and a casino.

For me it sadly conjures up a number of yukky-coloured cars owned by my parents and grandparents in the 70s.

But as a name I like it.

I like it, but it is a bit boat-y.

How about Serena Carina, Miranda, Sabrina, Marianna ...

It's lovely.

The previous Duchess of Kent (mother of the current Duke, Princess Alexandra & Prince Michael) she was Princess Marina of Greece. Very elegant lady.

Marina is also the heroine of Shakespeare's Pericles.

My next door neighbour when I was growing up was called Marina. She was the nicest woman I've ever had the good fortune to meet.

A place for boats. Howard's girlfriend/tarty bit on Last Of The Summer Wine.

Also, not a nice name IMO. Sorry Blush.

I love the name Marina and really want it for our next baby. However, i now live somewhere with 5 marinas - not Marinas, but marinas, so it might not work!
