do you all like this name

fuckityfuckfuckfuck Sun 21-Aug-11 21:29:04

I'd drop the d and go for Lucina.

hangon Sun 21-Aug-11 21:39:34

I think Ihave seen LUCINA on a car as a model of a car. Do not know what car

wearenotamused Sun 21-Aug-11 21:42:27

It's quiet nice, I'm guessing they'd get Luci/Lu/Luce for a nn
Lucina is nice as well along with Lucia.
Not a big fan of the look of the 'd' though - but that is just how it looks

I know a couple of adult Lucinda's.

One is (and has been) LuLu since childhood. The other gets called Lucy.

My mental image is upper middle class spoilt child. I also think it is a 'weak' name ie. it doesn't conjure up strong postive female role models. As a result I personally I wouldn't use it but I'm funny like that and the image that names conjure up matters to me a lot.

I think Lucinda is lovely - beautiful, feminine and with a lovely meaning too. And not overused as so many others on here. Great choice imo.

EskimoPie Sun 21-Aug-11 22:04:21

Yes! Lovely name!

Iamkenny Sun 21-Aug-11 22:06:00

Sorry not a fan. It sounds a bit <whispers> pretentious.

PippiLongBottom Sun 21-Aug-11 22:13:33

I really like it.

CharlieBoo Sun 21-Aug-11 22:17:24

Oh Lucy is FAR nicer.... Lucinda is just a waffle with maple syrup, jam, cream, sprinkles, a flake, some straw berries..... Just tooooooo much ...

theworldspins Sun 21-Aug-11 22:19:44

nope sorry - don't like it, but then I don't like Lucy-like names

InstantAtom Sun 21-Aug-11 22:20:36

Too frilly for me. Prefer Lucy or Lucia.

rachel1970 Sun 21-Aug-11 22:22:57

Lucinda is lovely. Very feminine and not overused. Lots of nickname options (Lucy, Cindy etc). Nice meaning too.

'Pretentious' names (according to some mumsnetters, it seems) are the nicest ones imo smile. Thankfully our tastes are all different.

redglow Sun 21-Aug-11 22:40:17

Ithink its a bit horsey

exoticfruits Sun 21-Aug-11 22:55:24

No-but Lucy is lovely.

redglow Sun 21-Aug-11 22:57:39

Lucy is very used though

exoticfruits Sun 21-Aug-11 23:00:17

Probably because Lucy is lovely and Lucinda isn't.

oohlaalaa Mon 22-Aug-11 12:08:51

I like Lucinda.

sonniebonnie Mon 22-Aug-11 12:29:56

Lucinda is beautiful - sounds great in English, German, Italian, Spanish, French and could be shortened to Lucy (which is ok but not as pretty as Lucinda imo).

sonniebonnie Mon 22-Aug-11 12:30:09

I like the meaning too.

MamaLazarou Mon 22-Aug-11 12:34:32

No idea why, but for me, this name is always pronounced 'Luthinda'.

I agree that it's a bit horsey.
