Taken inspiration from another thread and wondered what my name would have been had I been born with a Y chromosome.

Apparently I would have been a Jonathan which I think I would have quite suited.

Samuel. Can't see it myself! But I don't really suit my actual name either, I don't think.

Anthony John apparently. My Mum once told me it was after someone she was engaged to before my DF. Actually thinking about it I will have another chat with my Mum and find out more smile

Just been told as well that it would have been Jonathan Robert and knowing my family probably shortened to JR!

DH would have been Sherry!

Dominic. I like that and wanted to call ds Dominic but DH disagreed.

SquishyCinnamonSwirls Fri 12-Aug-11 09:44:54

Ermmmm dunno! Shall have to ask my Mum smile

Mark. Sister would have been Martin and brother Megan. Bit of a theme!! None of us actually have M names either.

thesurgeonsmate Fri 12-Aug-11 09:53:04

Andrew. Which is very much the same sort of name as my actual name. Medium in length, recognisably nam-ish sort of name. Although it is a tiny bit more Scottish than my actual name.

LaWeasel Fri 12-Aug-11 10:00:38

Simon.

I think, TBH, that my parents and I just do not have even remotely similar taste in names! Oddly they gave me a girl's name that had been very very popular... just as everyone else decided they didn't like it. hmm

pinkgirlythoughts Fri 12-Aug-11 10:03:05

Ryan. My sisters would have been Max and Josh.

PuppyMonkey Fri 12-Aug-11 10:04:36

I was going to be James. Mum was convinced she was having a boy, while the woman in the hospital bed next to her in labour ward had been convinced she was having a girl. Both of them were wrong - and they simply swapped the names they'd been planning. hmmconfused

I often wonder how that James turned out...

thesortinghat Fri 12-Aug-11 10:16:11

Puppy, thats a lovely story, but awkward though if the other womans girls name had been horrendous but she loved James.

PuppyMonkey Fri 12-Aug-11 10:21:22

The other woman's girls name was a bit left field tbh.grin I've got used to it but, let's just say I have a conversation about it virtually every day of my life!

thesortinghat Fri 12-Aug-11 10:28:34

Puppy, you have to share it now. grin

thesurgeonsmate Fri 12-Aug-11 10:33:28

That makes the story even better, though, doesn't it?

PuppyMonkey Fri 12-Aug-11 10:36:38

Ok, drumroll it's............. Oonagh

have got used to it but when I was growing up I cursed that bloody woman in the next bed.grin

helendigestives Fri 12-Aug-11 11:15:45

I would have been Liam. I like it.

pommedechocolat Fri 12-Aug-11 11:17:22

I would have been David. They used it for my brother when he appeared two years later.

pommedechocolat Fri 12-Aug-11 11:18:35

Oh and totally off tangent - I quite like David and db suits being a Dave but the other week I had to sit through the inlaws slagging off the name for 20 mins! All quite aware that I have a db called Dave that they have met.

I think name tactlessness is weird.

kellestar Fri 12-Aug-11 11:21:43

I would have been Jock, my mum thought it was lovely. My younger brother is Jack.

MiL chose Sydney for a boy and Robin for a girl, DH arrived and they went with Robin in the end.

DD would have been William.

thesortinghat Fri 12-Aug-11 11:57:14

Puppy, that's a lovely name but a big jump from James. smile

Kellestar I think you had a lucky escape

FourThousandHoles Fri 12-Aug-11 12:01:28

I would have been one of many Stephens my age, instead of being one of the many <common 70' girls' name>s
