Fred = Frederick, or possibly Alfred but that is normally shortened to Alfie
Jack = John

Thanks for those suggestions. My trouble is I like the nn where I don't like the full name and vice versa.

LOVE Jonah though and would decide on this is DH didn't think it was too biblical.

Jolyon, Jonty (tennuous but possible) and apparently Jocelyn can be a boys name- I think you could get a Joe from that (just).

All the others I would have said are listed already.

I have a friend called Joe (though he spells it Jo) and his name is Jonathan. I think if you like the shortened version and not the long ones, just call baby the short one.
