For a boy?
It looks made up. Like you couldn't decide between Lola/Lilly/Lila etc. And to me, it looks like a girl's name.

How is it connected to Edward? Confused

I'm guessing a boy's name? Not keen to be honest.

Lalo, no, not keen.

I know a Spaniard name named Lalo. I quite like it.

Yep for a boy.

It's a diminutive form of Eduardo (and connected to other Spanish-y Edward names)

Love it. Makes me think of Lalo Schiffrin (and Bullit theme tune). Good call.

Lalo,Lalo.. saying it lots, I don't know, it grows.
Reminds me of Iolo (but you want something Edward like so that isn't any help)

Get what people are saying about girls name - hoping you don't know/have any L/Lo/La girls because then..I don't know..maybe the english speaking world isn't ready yet Wink

Yeah, reminds me of Lalo Schifrin too. I don't see why you couldn't use it in the UK.

'I don't know..maybe the english speaking world isn't ready yet'.

Actually it reminds me a bit of CeeLo Green (former Gnarls Barkley singer). And also of the song Layla. And of course it being Lola back to front.

Boys names are incredibly tough though. I don't envy you OP. Good luck!

Mission Impossible!!!

For that reason alone it's a great name

I'd say you've gone Lala! Eduardo is far superiorSmile

First thing i thought was of a Lilo as in the inflatable, then of lindsay lohan after clicking on to the thread thought of halo. At best its an out there/odd girls name but for a boy come on don't do that to your child.

Right so am I right in saying people who though Lalo Schriffin first like it and people who didn't dont?

As I said it's the only Edward related name we found that wasn't Ed... (apart from Eamonn which we can't use).

God this is hard :(

I don't get it - if you like Edward then why not use that?

Maybe it would work better in a Spanish-speaking country, for me the first thing I thought was it sounds like you got Lola the wrong way round. Maybe that's just my cultural ignorance, but I'm afraid you'll find the majority of people just as bad!

youmeupstrairsnow · 05/08/2011 12:37

Basically Ephiny DC would be named after my Dad who hated his name and always went by Eddy (never wrote down Edward or used it apart from passport ect), so for him I couldn't name DC Edward. And we can't have a Ed-something because of DH side.

If anyones got any other ideas, that would be great.

Use Ted or Ned then?

Lalo sounds like a tellytubby, or a small child that can't say "yellow".

Report
youmeupstrairsnow · 05/08/2011 13:07

MrsSchadenfreude DH laughed at Ned and Ted is just (there are no words) also that would have to be the full name on birth cert. and just no.

My dgs is Edward known as Ted and there are no words to describe how wonderful/clever/gorgeous he is.Woody is also an Edward nn I believe.

minipie · 05/08/2011 13:17

Hmmm tricky. Did your Dad have a middle name or surname that could be used as inspiration instead?

I think Lalo would be pretty unfamiliar in England and would be assumed to be made up/ a girl by most people, sorry.

Ned and Ted are the only other ones I can think of.

Report
thecatisdead1 · 05/08/2011 13:19

I thought Woody was Woodrow?

A name that comes from Edward but can't be Edsomething and you don't want to put Edward on the Birth Cert... Wow...ummm...I'm out, that one is too hard.

Good luck (you may need it) - But I still like Lalo (hums mission impossible)
