Baby names

Is your own name ever brought up on the baby name threads?

And what is the general opinion on it?

I don't think my name has increased in popularity significantly since I was born (at the moment it is around the 300-350 mark in the stats) but it is very frequently mentioned on here and seems to be pretty much universally adored on mumsnet :)

Only in 'names that will never be revived' threads...

Nope, not really. There's one other MNer who suggests it sometimes but nobody else has ever mentioned it afaik. I started a thread suggesting it once and received a reaction of 'good God noooooooooooo'.

I've never met another person with the same name though so it's probably not v popular at all.

never seen mine

you started a thread suggesting your own name?! You stirrer, you. I don't think I'd get any reaction at all with mine - just be one of those unanswered threads I reckon

Never. A completely not unusual name, particularly for people in their 30s (in fact I'll tell you - Helen) but never gets mentioned at all.

ThePosieParker · 04/08/2011 15:28

NEVER. There are none of 'me' on FB or probably this fair earth.

Never

Helen was definitely mentioned recently because someone classed it as trying to hard and I couldn't figure it out at all , so I remember it.

tOO hard

Interesting responses.

We're all "rarely"s.

Is that because the thread title is tempting to those of us with unusual names?

Or is it that 9 out of 10 MNers have rare names?

Confused

Occasionally. As a joke. Or in "horrible old names that won't be making a comeback" type threads.

My name has probably been mentioned on the most boring dated names threads

Sometimes- it seems to be greeted with muted enthusiasm as a classic.

Lots

Most people like it. If they met me I'd put them right off!

OneHundredPercentFucked · 04/08/2011 15:37

Actually, after having a quick search, it does come up. But on the '80'd never to be revived' threads!

In the recent 'poncy name' thread I was mentioned TWICE Grin

I do have a very poncey name, only 'met' people with it on facebook.

No, mine's too unfashionable at the moment. In 50 years or so it'll have granny chic Wink

Mine is mentioned sparingly, but universally adored when mentioned.

I hate it.

Make of that what you will! Grin

Showy- I have never met anyone with your name ever, and I work in a sector where I meet a great many people.

Nutella- you have a lovely, classic name! Smile
