Ava too popular?

Hi,

Do not know the sex, and am really struggling with names, I like Ava for a girl, but is this too popular? also what middle name would go with this?

Already have a Daniel, does this flow well together?

Boys names I have so far are Joshua and george.

Opinions? or some new ideas maybe?

It is incredibly popular at the moment but if you like it then why not? I only know of two so far... :)

I love Joshua, not sure on George as, to me, it still seems an old-man name IYSWIM?

Hmmm,

Im liking Ava Lily.

I think you're right about George too, I did prefer Joshua, it goes better with our surname. It's also a name i've liked since childhood, but know thats also turned into a very popular name

This baby name thing is hard!!

Both Reese Witherspoon and the guy who played Murdoch in the original A-Team have daughters named Ava Elizabeth.

I like Ava Lily- it is popular, but if you really love it, you shouldn't be put off. Daniel and Ava sound good together too, IMO.

DD3 is Ava Lily and she's the only Ava I no so it's not a popular name where we live.

I don't know any Avas. It's certainly not up there with Tilly and Isabella.

I know 3 born this year (& I don't know heaps of babies for any reason!)

Nice name though but I did think meh when the third one was announced!

I have an Ava Jean. I love the name and when she was born 5 years ago I hadn't heard of any others but it is more common these days!

We have three in my street. It is incredibly popular round here.

How about Ada?

Evie and Eve are very popular, and Ava sounds very similar.

I love the name Ava and it is top of my list. I have taught over 200 children and never taught an Ava. In fact I have known probably over 600 children in school and no Avas. Must be a regional thing.Smile

Although thinking about it that's children who are 3 plus. Maybe there will be loads in the next 3 years!Grin

My partner likes the name Ava but looking at top 10 lists I also worried about it being too popular. Everyone we mention it to always says 'oh thats soooooo popular' but when asked if they actually know anyone with the name it turns out they dont! I would'nt worry too much about popularity It seems to vary by region anyway.

I have an Ava Rose and don't know any others despite being a mother of 5 and therefore knowing loads of children!

I have heard of others at soft play or 'ooh my auntie's best friends sister named her dd Ava' but don't actually know any.

I love Ava Lily but I already had a Lily :)

Yes thats the thing I dont actually know of any myself, but know its high up in the charts, so was thinking that when I send my child to school it will become apparent then!

I love the name so im having it! (if its a girl!)

So now need to convince myself of Joshua, same problem there I think!!

I thought my DS's name Daniel was too popular, but havent met any his age yet, know plenty age 6+ but I love his name and i'm so glad I chose it.

Exactly OP. All my DCs have pretty popular names (see Lily for example) but even then there really aren't that many. I don't regret their names and my Lily thinks it's cool there's another one in her school (still only 1 other).

If you love it, use it!

What about Alma? (I like it as a name since watching Deadwood.)
