For a boy I like Oisin and... well, Oisin actually.

I had no idea there were so many unpronouncable names!
They all look lovely, but honestly, when I see a name written down that I have no idea how to pronounce, i find myslef avoiding the parents until I can find out!!!!

People have anglicised alot of the Irish names so Niamh became Neave, Saiorse became Sorcha, Aine = Anya......So thats one option so baby doesnt always have to correct people! My personal fave is Eilis, pronounced ay-lish....think its beautiful but dont think my kids could pull it off!

I like Aoife - ee fa , and Eibhar - ay va there's loads of different spellings for this one! and Niamh, I suppose we could change the spellings so they are easier to pronounce I realy love Aine but can't use it for family reasons!

Eibhar is niccccccccccccccccccce!!!!! LOVE! However she would constantly get called EEBARR until you explain it, unless of course you live in ireland!

Eibhar isn't Eva, you can spell it either Eabha or Aoibhe but your spelling isn't a name.

um, same thing depending on where you are from, and I gave you two. But EIBHAR is a type of piano, not a girls name, trust me. You can add an E in and its a boys name though.

I'm Irish but had my children in England. I really love Diarmuid Patrick for a boy and Clodagh Maeve for a girl.

I also like Lorcan, Tadhg, Fionn... I know and Irish girl living in london who called her son Fiachra. It reminds me too much of Fiacla!
I quite like Cathal too, and Cormac.

Sorcha is not an anglicisation of the name Saoirse. It's an entirely different name with a different meaning and pronunciation. Saoirse = Seersha, Sorcha = Surka (in Irish it kind of has 3 syllables, as if it has a short "a" between Sur and Ka) I always thought Anya was an eastern European name. Aine is pronounced Awn-ya.
