Thinking about Minnie Alexandra Kathleen Palmer - Yes or No?!

FoxyRevenger Thu 21-Jul-11 19:52:24

There has been a thread about the name Minnie before, and about 100000 people posted saying it was a slang name for fanjo. shock

TillyIpswitch Thu 21-Jul-11 19:59:47

I have actually never heard the word Minnie as slang for fanjo, but that is almost certainly because my children are too young.

But yes, apparently it is synonymous.

CandiceMariePratt Thu 21-Jul-11 20:00:58

Shame about the fanjo thing as it's quite a nice name

girliefriend Thu 21-Jul-11 20:05:19

Millie, Megan, Molly are all lovely and similiar and not slang for fanny!

I do know a little girl called Minnie and she is very cute but I personally disaprove of the name as I think she is going to get grief for it when she gets a bit older!!!

Tuggy Thu 21-Jul-11 20:11:19

Minnie is very common slang for vagina i'm afraid sad sorry

MelinaM Thu 21-Jul-11 20:26:57 in Mouse?! No, not a nice name!

CitizenOscar Thu 21-Jul-11 20:32:21

Yep, my DH uses "minnie" as a name for vagina (in a light-hearted rather than sexual context, IYSWIM). I'd never heard it used that way before I met him but he really does.

BaseyBrek Thu 21-Jul-11 20:50:37

Could you use it as a nickname of your child but given them a more traditional name?
e.g. Miranda with a nickname as Minnie to close family/friends

My friends little girl is called Minnie, at first i was a bit shock but she was saying it;s like an old ladies name, her great nan was a Minnie. I love it now! Really cute, there's a million names that you will here piss takes of!

ShatnersBassoon Thu 21-Jul-11 22:50:24

I know one Minnie, who grew up to be decidedly Maxi. Don't do it.

BabesandJugs Thu 21-Jul-11 23:01:14

Have to say that Minnie are lady parts within our family and friend circle. Sorry, but it may as well be Fanny.... :-/

prudaloo Thu 21-Jul-11 23:28:05

It's a maid's name!

bristolcities Fri 22-Jul-11 00:00:14

It is on my very short short list of girls names. I think it's brilliant. Do all those considering names sounding like sexual organs think William shortened to Willy is wrong to? Do it!

NattersAndMutters Fri 22-Jul-11 00:01:51

I never heard it before. Is it a pet form of minge?

Tuggy Fri 22-Jul-11 00:28:45

snorting loudly at the thought of 'Minnie growing up Maxi' ha that would be so unfortunate!

I like it as a nickname for a little girl. I know a beautiful little girl called Hermione but is always known as Minnie. Perhaps not a good idea to use Hermione at the moment though, what with all the Harry Potter hype.

MatLeaveForever Fri 22-Jul-11 08:15:05

My Nana is called Minnie and she's 93 but I guess it's due a revival! And I don't think it sounds rude!

GwendolineMaryLacey Fri 22-Jul-11 08:22:25

I've never heard the fanjo reference except on here but the bloody mouse would be enough to stop me using it.

MsChanandlerBong Fri 22-Jul-11 08:33:34

I have NEVER heard it used as a reference for a fanjo apart from on this thread. Maybe I am moving in the wrong circles!

I agree it is more of a nn than a bc name. We have considered it as a nn for Jasmine. I think Minnie is a lovely nn - regardless of any links to Disney characters (I think as a child I would have LOVED the connection!)

Cattleprod Fri 22-Jul-11 08:49:38

Short for Minerva it's ok. Minnie on it's own makes me think of mice, cars, milk lollies and fanjos!

PaperBank Fri 22-Jul-11 09:21:35

Alexandra Kathleen Palmer would be a very nice name smile
