I like Sadie and Hope. Sadie Hope - lovely combination!

Mae is OK but prefer May spelling. Not keen on Ada, not sure it's due a comeback really.

Sadie is sweet; it sounds very American. Ada is pretty and underused.

I do love Sadie, but (and I'm really sorry to say this) to me it will always be associated with "Sexy Sadie", and some joker would probably sing this.....which obviously is not what you want for your child. I considered it for my DD because it is lovely, and ruled it out for that reason.

What's sexy Sadie? I'm sometimes a Sadie and have never heard of that.

Know a Sadie - lovely name. We're Scottish if that makes any difference - I always think of it as a Scottish name.

I've never heard of Sexy Sadie either.

I think it's a wonderful name, and to me is associated with Aunt Sadie from the Nancy Mitford books.

Sexy Sadie is a song by the Beatles.

I love the name and would definitely put it on my list.

Report
chandellina · 25/07/2011 09:06

here are the lyrics, i think it's very sweet and can think of worse things to be associated with my name

Sexy Sadie what have you done
You made a fool of everyone
You made a fool of everyone
Sexy Sadie, ooh, what have you done

Sexy Sadie you broke the rules
You laid it down for all to see
You laid it down for all to see
Sexy Sadie, ooh, you broke the rules

One sunny day the world was waiting for a lover
She came along to turn on everyone
Sexy Sadie the greatest of them all

Sexy Sadie how did you know
The world was waiting just for you
The world was waiting just for you
Sexy Sadie, ooh, how did you know

Sexy Sadie you'll get yours yet
However big you think you are
However big you think you are
Sexy Sadie, ooh, you'll get yours yet

We gave her everything we owned
just to sit at her table
Just a smile would lighten everything
Sexy Sadie she's the latest
and the greatest of them all

Ha, She made a fool of everyone
Sexy Sadie
Ha, However big you think you are

It is indeed a lovely name, and a great song (can't believe people have never heard of it!)....just sayin' how I felt, because I'd love it for a DD as well.

I like Sadie and Ada best. I also don't know of any young Sadies if this helps.
