I have a Matilda NN Tilly
and like Stella NN Ella......

What do you think of the name?

Iggly Tue 19-Jul-11 12:44:23

Makes me think of the lager... Ella is a nice name on itself.

basingstoke Tue 19-Jul-11 12:45:02

I love Stella. Not sure why you would use Ella as a nickname, but none of business either really!!

iwantavuvezela Tue 19-Jul-11 12:45:19

I love the name stella ... but i would never think of ella as being the nickname .. why not just go with ella if that is what you really want ....

Tidey Tue 19-Jul-11 12:46:09

Sorry, automatic reaction. It is a nice name but has a few negative connotations that jump to mind.

Kayano Tue 19-Jul-11 12:48:31

Shiela goes out with her mate Stella...
It gets poured all over her fella...

MamaLazarou Tue 19-Jul-11 12:50:17

Stella was a diver and she was always down.

MamaLazarou Tue 19-Jul-11 12:50:33

'Stella NN Ella'... WTF??

sirhandel Tue 19-Jul-11 13:30:25

Lovely name. But be prepared for the beer comments from people.

pedalpants Tue 19-Jul-11 15:59:50

stella, lovely lovely name. don't think of beer. but NN ella is odd. just name ella if that is what you really want.

WaitingForBabyD Tue 19-Jul-11 16:07:59

I really like Stella but would worry about the beer connotations. I also like Estella (as in Great Expectations) but not sure that avoids the beer issues!

bibbitybobbityhat Tue 19-Jul-11 16:10:15

Love love love Stella. Why tf would you want to shorten it to Ella when about 1 girl in 10 is called Ella or Ellie?

HollyGoHeavily Tue 19-Jul-11 16:19:28

I hear the name Stella, I get thirsty......

Sossiges Tue 19-Jul-11 16:23:48

"Makes me think of the lager."
It's good lager smile.
I love Stella.
NN Ella is a bit funny though, just call her Ella if you prefer it.

SixtyFootDoll Tue 19-Jul-11 16:29:32

I,love the name Stella, really pretty. Not sue of Ella as a nn

BibiBelle Tue 19-Jul-11 16:29:35

Ella not common everywhere hmm

Stella is beer though smile

minipie Tue 19-Jul-11 16:54:15

Stella is a lovely name, but the beer connotation has ruined it for me sadly.

Bella? (Though then you have Twilight associations).

BikeRunSki Tue 19-Jul-11 16:58:49

My 7 yo niece is Stella, nn Lala.

I like it, and DSis has only had a few beer comments (although she did convince a very sheltered Muslim girl that she worked with that her DD's middle name was Artois, with co-worker thought was a lovely name!).

Roopoo Tue 19-Jul-11 17:57:17

blush re Ella.....It's not that I like it so much as that I always like the idea of having a NN
I really love Stella in it's own right...BUT the beer thing does put me off slightly...........

reastie Tue 19-Jul-11 21:20:22

I really like the name stella but couldn't choose it for my dd as I just kept thinking of the beer

razzlebathbone Wed 20-Jul-11 14:21:24

I think it's lovely, but see no point in shortening it to Ella.

If you think about Stella McCartney, do you think the lager?
