What are your thoughts?

Like Rupert, but am really not fussed on Walter. It might go really well with your surname though.

Are you thinking for twins or a first and middle name?

Walter reminds me of a very weedy geek - probably bullied. Think it's due to my memories of reading my brother's Beano comic.

I would probably call a baby called Rupert, Roo but that's just me. I think it's cute but in full sounds good too.

Rupert's much better than Hugo.

Those names make you sound well off and middle class - that's not a criticism, just an obervation grin

IwishIwasmoreorganised Sun 10-Jul-11 22:10:31

Sorry, not than Hugo - than Walter blush

Both awful

FunnysInTheGarden Sun 10-Jul-11 22:12:37

No to both, sorry

mollschambers Sun 10-Jul-11 22:13:34

Yep Rupert the Bear and Walter Softy for me too.

exoticfruits Sun 10-Jul-11 22:14:19

No to both.

PaperBank Sun 10-Jul-11 22:16:20

I like Walter.

Sir Walter Scott, Sir Walter Raleigh, Walt Disney.

Not keen on Rupert, it's a bit obviously posh.

Rhubarbgarden Sun 10-Jul-11 22:28:01

Not nice.

WTFAmIDoing Sun 10-Jul-11 23:15:35

Also not that keen. Sorry.

PurpleStrawberryGuava Sun 10-Jul-11 23:26:52

I love both, but slightly prefer Walter, as you can use Walt for short.

I'm not keen on any of the short forms of Rupert, which lets it down slightly.

Absolutely love the name Rupert and goes well with Hugo. Not keen on Walter but I do like Winston. Have you considered Felix? Fab name.

AlpinePony Mon 11-Jul-11 07:14:22

I hope you don't live in a garrison town.

kreecherlivesupstairs Mon 11-Jul-11 07:21:03

And once again I introduce the classless and timeless Duncan or Gavin or Adrian.
Walter would be shortened to Wally.

NattersAndMutters Mon 11-Jul-11 10:22:42

I like Walter a lot, and no, it isn't necessarily shortened to Wally. Walter Swinburn the jockey, Walter Smith the football manager, Walter Cronkite ....

rachel1970 Mon 11-Jul-11 10:41:38

I like Rupert and agree it goes well with Hugo.

Also like Winston. What about Quentin (Quinn) or Dominic?

Tortoise Mon 11-Jul-11 10:47:33

My grandad was Walter. He was known as Wall so that would make it a no for me.
Don't like Rupert either. (sorry)

Tortoise Mon 11-Jul-11 10:47:57

That would be wally not wall!

poppydaisy Mon 11-Jul-11 10:49:18

Why not shorten Walter to Walt?

Rupert is nice and goes well with Hugo imo.
