I heard this name yesterday and I think I like it! Any thoughts on this? :)

Not keen

duckdodgers · 05/07/2011 20:43

I would think the poor wee soul was called Audrey.

mo3d · 05/07/2011 20:43

My daughter has a friend called Aubrey, I think it's nice but we do call him strawberry. Not very grown up I know. Sorry Blush

reelingintheyears · 05/07/2011 20:43

Awful.

Sorry,you did ask.

reelingintheyears · 05/07/2011 20:45

Reminds me of a 19th century Reverend/Vicar.

With a constantly running nose and a big white hanky.

OscarLove · 05/07/2011 20:46

Aubrey the Strawberry :)

I did ask, and your opinions are more than welcome!

Perhaps I should explain. I pronounce 'strawberry' more like strawbrey. Common I know. So that's why it came about. I'll go now. Blush.

purplepidjin · 05/07/2011 20:48

Aubrey Strawberry was the minibus driver and mainetence dude at my primary school, he was awesome!

Probably not fair to deliberately inflict it on your child, though Wink

franke · 05/07/2011 20:50

I think it's terribly, awfully posh. And not in a good way. Sorry.

Larold · 05/07/2011 21:11

How about Audley as in Audley Harrison the boxer ?

:)

GwendolineMaryLacey · 05/07/2011 21:12

Went to school with a boy called Aubrey. We called him...you guessed it... Aubrey the Strawberry. Sorry :)

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 05/07/2011 21:12

Hideous. It is the name of those drawings of a big nosed bloke looking over a wall. Awful, sorry.

Awomancalledhorse · 05/07/2011 21:20

I wanted it for LO as I love Aubrey Beardsley. Dh say no.
Sort of glad he did (doesn't go well with our surname).

Indigojohn · 05/07/2011 21:23

Ha!

Have you ever seen Life is Sweet?

You really should! Grin

squeak2392 · 05/07/2011 23:04

I learnt about Aubrey Beardsley at a relatively young age, so it's perfectly acceptable to me, however I do much prefer it on a girl (although the spelling Aubrey makes me think 'man' and Aubree/Aubri are made up).

Considering it's massive increase in popularity on girls recently, I don't think it'll work on a baby boy now.

birdofthenorth · 05/07/2011 23:20

Prefer Auden, Audley or Orson. Really like Aubrey but it does feel girly somehow (& I hadn't even considered the strawberry similarity)

Rosemallow · 05/07/2011 23:27

The only Aubrey I knew was a girl.
She was an unkind bully. Anyway, that is irrelevant but I'm not keen on the name. Birdofthenorth has made some good suggestions.
