Oliver and polly?

Have an Oliver who is nearly 6 and an Edward.
Really like polly for dc3.
Is it too much with an Oliver? Our Oliver is always Oliver, not ollie so far and is nearly 6 but of course could become an ollie when he is older!

your DSs have lovely names
Polly is also nice
personally wouldn't use with an Oliver

Clara and Helena sound great with O&E.

Thanks.
Other names on our shortlist are alice, philippa (pippa) and jemima.
Polly was the one dh and I like equally well so the best compromise iyswim!
Jemima is my favourite at the moment and alice is dhs favourite!

Polly just makes me think of the song (miss polly had a dolly who was sick sick sick.....)

I like pippa (not philippa)

Alice would go with Oliver and Edward

Thanks.
Think polly will def have to come off the list with already having an Oliver, which is a shame!
Looks like dh and I will be fighting it out over jemima and alice!

I agree Olly and Polly is a bit much.

I like Philippa/Pippa best from your other options.

I love Polly. I think it is fine with Oliver.
Apparently Pippa means something very rude in Japanese.

'Polliver' is stuck in my head now and won't go away.

Alice is a very lovely name.

I had Lovebirds (like on '3rd and Bird') when I was 8 called Olly and Polly.

I love Polly though. Just not so good with Oliver IMO.

I think you're right to be steering away from Polly. Even if Oliver isn't Ollie they still have a similar ring to them.

Love Alice.

I have an Oliver and love the name Holly but had to use it as middle name for DD1 as I felt it was too much with Oliver. He is still never Ollie to me but most others call him Ollie.

I'm a Polly and I went out with an Oliver for over a year, I think it works quite well!! It's always going to be pretty obvious which one you're adressing, so don't see why it would be a major problem.

I LOVE Polly it was one on the list of girls names with dd2 but i agree it doesnt seem to go with ollie, Oliver its fine with but like you say he may well become known as Ollie by his friends when he is older

NOTHING wrong with Oliver and Polly, especially with Edward in the middle!

I think it is too risky and robs your DS of the chance to go by Ollie, which it's reasonably likely he might want to when a bit older.

Jemima and Alice are both lovely and fit really well with your existing DC so go for one of those!

heh, I have an Oliver who would have been an Alice - and Edward is our choice for any ds2!

Alice and Pippa both lovely :)

Polly is a beautiful name - my daughter's name and she loves it and never had another in her class as yet. Use it if you want to but just never call your son by the nickname Ollie and don't allow other family members to do so either. Doesn't matter what his friends call him later on. Go for it.
