OK - my daughter is still not here. I am now 41 weeks ...

My DH's favourite name is Stella.

When I told my Dad he said -"Really? Like the beer?"

But its a nice name I think - does it matter that an 'orrible lager is named after it?

What do you think?

(Mumsnet collectively provided great feedback on my favourite name last week, so its DH's turn this week!)

I think it's quite a nice name and my DH thinks it's definitely a nice beer. The only thing that would put me off is Stella McCartney she always looks so damn miserable.....................!

RufousBartleby Sat 18-Jun-11 17:30:03

artois? Sorry that's the first thing that comes to mind.

WorzselMummage Sat 18-Jun-11 17:31:05

Love it smile

Don't like it

baskingseals Sat 18-Jun-11 17:33:21

it means 'star' in italian

i think it's a beautiful name, i really love it

Definitely think first of the beer - and it doesn't help that it's a notorious one, nicknamed "wife beater".

Think second of the new landlady of The Rovers.

The loaded/aristocratic (McCartney/Tennant) can carry it off, though.

Love it - it was our second choice name for dd. We liked that it means 'star' in Latin. The Stella Artois thing didn't really cross our radar.

I love Stella. Estella is even more beautiful if it works with your surname. What's your favourite name?

BrigitBigKnickers Sat 18-Jun-11 17:57:42

Estelle/ Estella lovely.

Stella- sweet but the beer is the first thing that comes to mind.

peanutbutterkid Sat 18-Jun-11 18:12:56

Beer, vegetarian fanatics.

Estella would be okay.

FridayFanjoFun Sat 18-Jun-11 18:14:21

Lovely. I don't think of the beer at all.

MelinaM Sat 18-Jun-11 21:18:00

Artois here too.

ebbandflow Sat 18-Jun-11 21:21:05

Just reminds me of the McCartney one, Estelle though is a fab name.

ebbandflow Sat 18-Jun-11 21:23:49

Ooh there's an active thread about induction-might be useful for you, good luck.

Panzee Sat 18-Jun-11 21:27:03

If you're worried about Stella Artois then Estella would be no better. Estrella Damm lager anyone?

Personally I love them both (the lagers and the names)

bananamom Sat 18-Jun-11 21:43:05

I immediately think of the lager I'm afraid. I also find it quite harsh sounding. How about Saskia?

typsical Sat 18-Jun-11 22:42:33

It makes me think of the baby in 'Shameless', sorry!

SloganLogan Sat 18-Jun-11 23:43:39

I like it, but think Estella is even nicer.

Sheepasaurus Sun 19-Jun-11 00:42:17

I like it, I know a Stella and she loves it!

madhattershouse Sun 19-Jun-11 00:49:58

A friend of mine is quite a drinker. Her daughter went to pre-school and when they all said their names one little girl said Stella...she then shouted "Beer!". Nuff said grin
