Frank/Frankie?

Overdue with 1st boy. Still no decision on name- aagh!
This has always been a frontrunner & I love it but something is stopping me from deciding this is the one.

Want a good strong name which isn't too popular. Worried Frank too old for a baby but Frankie too modern, think Archie,Charlie etc.

Haven't told anyone I am considering it as I don't think I will get a good reaction. Not overly concerned about this if I was sure this was coming to be his name.

Also strongly dislike Francis- so would be Frank (possibly Frankie as nn as a child).

I know a Frankie, very cool kid, and a charmer.

To be frank (boom boom) I'd go with Frank. Frankie is then the obvious nickname. Frankie is a bit babyish for an adult imo.

How about Francis, nn Frank?

Thanks everyone. Really dislike Francis but love Frank. Think it a bit 'old man' for newborn though. Love it as a teenager's/man's name. It is also a family name which makes me like it more.

Why am I embarrassed to tell people I like it- hope it's because I don't want them to marr it somehow with their disapproval- know it's not everyones cup of tea. Worried I may regret it? Need to be brave!

I don't really like Frank, sorry. Frankie sounds very 'cutesy'.

We're going with Franklin (family name) if this one is a boy. Frankie for a baby nn, Fran when they want to be 'cool'.

Personally I would go for Francis with Frank as a nn. Otherwise I would go for just Frank. NOT Frankie!!

My son is Frank and everyone calls him that (or ridiculous variations such as 'Franklemousse') - I HATE 'Frankie' and so far, it hasn't come up. Go for it!
