Is it short for anything?

I knew a girl once who was named just Tessa.

Unfortunately 'TESSA' was also the name of some savings account - Tax Exempt Special Savings Account - which I once had!

Can be short for Teresa but is just fine on its own, and its unusual enough now not to have meet another little girl with the same name in 8.4 years - have met a few old ladies and several dogs though grin

Love Tessa as it issmile Tessa is the English diminutive of the Greek Teresa, so it is a name in it's own right, but some more possibilities for you:

.....some are a little 'out there'grin

I've only heard it as short for Teresa. Anything else would be stretching it a bit, I think.

I like Tessa on its own, lovely name.
