For a boy? In UK people might read it as Pascale as there are more girls than boys with this name. Quite a nice name, either way. Can't see anything wrong with it, and there will only be one in the class at school you'd imagine.

I knew a half-French Pascal in London, it works well in uk because you don';t have to use a fancy accent or anything.

My DS has a toy lizard named Pascal and I can't get past that to tell whether or not it is actually a nice name. To me it's just a lizard that lives on the bookshelf.

How would you pronounce it in English - PASS-cal or Pas-CALL. I think it sounds lovely in French but am not sure about the English pronunciation.

Personally I prefer Bruno - strong name that works well in all languages (well, it is pronounced the same in German, English and French)

I hate it but that's because I was forced to read "Les Pensées de Pascal" at university. Blaise Pascal was a boring religious nutter and I can't escape the memory of him and his dreadful pensées.
