Eileen Dover?

My mum's mn is Eileen and she has had a lifelong hatred for it I'm afraid - to the extent that she will only admit to it being an "E" name most of the time!

Not my cup of tea either Blush.

No, I don't like it. I prefer 'Ellen' which seems like a simpler version... I think they are both versions of Helen.

However, five years ago I would have said eurgh eyooo to Kathleen, and now, something is making it seem a tiny bit more fashionable. Margaret, Kathleen and Eileen. I can see them coming back in soon.

I prefer Eily, an Irish nn for Eileen, and probably acceptable as a name in its own right.

I knew an Elieen at school (I'm 23, to give you some perspective), she had a constant stream of people offering to come on her.

Would Alieen be too serial killer/alien-ish?

I would bet good money that many of those 19 Eileen's last year were traveller girls. Tis very common name among the traveller community for little girls
