Sian?

What does everyone think of the name Sian?
I want a name that's pretty and girly that an adult wouldn't feel embarrassed about being called.
DH loves it, but I'm not convinced...

I'm afraid I'm not overly keen on it. Plus I wonder if some people would pronounce it sigh-anne? (I say this because I know a Sian and she tells me lots of people do mispronounce it)

I like names like Lilian (nn Lily), Charlotte, Lucy and Martha. I think it is the 1-syllable girls name that puts me off, it sounds harsh rather than pretty. I like 1 syllable names for boys, as they sound strong.

The only Sian I have known spent most of her time explaining that "No, her name wasn't pronounced see-ann". If you are not convinced then maybe you need to think again.

Sian is lovely. But like you I rejected one-syllable names for my dds. I wanted pretty names with good nns.

I knew two Sians at school. One pronounced the way in which Thor intended, the other Sigh-Ann. I used to say it with a silent tut.

The only Sian I know gets fed up of being called Sean or Shan.
