I have been posting so much recently it's just because I can't decide on any girls name. It's really awful. How popular Colette is? Is Colette very middle class or the opposite? I would like the nickname Coco.

Absolutely no idea about the answer to any of your questions - but it's a gorgeous name!

Don't really like it sorry but then I knew a chav at school called Colette so that has probably influenced my opinion.

Didn't think it would be long before the awful chav word was banded about

The colette I know must be at least 45 ..long before chavs were invented

Very nice -- I like French names. Colette is considered very unfashionable in France though. It's popular in Ireland for the 40+ set, so due a comeback imo. Lettie and Coco are both nice NNs.

My grandmother was a Nicolette if you wanted something on the same lines but a bit different, although it probably lends itself more to Nikkie as a nn

Colette is horrible. Please don't impose this on your child.

Love it. Sounds very Aussie to me though as I know quite a few 40ish Aussie Colettes.

Sorry I don't like it as have only met one who was vile.

Also makes me think of Clopette, a horse in some kids programme, can't remember which one.

Not popular at all - do not know any, have not heard of any children called this (once knew a French teacher with this name).

I think it is quite sweet. Love the nn Letty.

I'm a Colette - expect i spell it Collette. (and i'm lovely Grin )I love my name. All while i was growing up i never knew anyone else with it so felt very unique. Only ever had one other person in my life called Colette, and one very distant work colleague.

I don't think its chavy at all (but then i am biased). I wouldn't say its middle or working class - i grew up in a very working class family but have worked hard to improve 'my lot' and think the name cuts across.

Love the nickname Coco, i used to be called Letty and hated it, but that could have been down to the person calling it me. I get called Coll now which i don't mind.
