I kind of like it....but is it a bit Kai / Jayden x

colditz Wed 18-May-11 20:22:17

YES IT IS.

It's a surname - why would you call your child 'son of Jack' (unless he is!) Jack by itself is much nicer.
(also, yes to the C question)

Gosh it is a dreadful name

catgirl1976 Wed 18-May-11 20:25:28

yeah..thought so.. but the hormones..they make my brain not right!

I have a v classy friend with a Jackson. He was going to be Arthur but there was some story about her waters splattering up the wall during labour and the pattern looking like a Jackson Pollock which led to jokes and the name stuck.

catgirl1976 Wed 18-May-11 20:49:13

I may stick with Rafe or Isaac........

SecretNutellaFix Wed 18-May-11 20:50:46

At least you spelled it correctly and not Jaxon.

wheniwishuponastar Wed 18-May-11 20:51:21

I like it but I guess I do have dodgy taste / I like American names.

Edmundo Wed 18-May-11 21:06:27

It's classier than Kai and Jayden. I know a fair few middle-class Jacksons. It's more Harper/Chester.

rachel1970 Wed 18-May-11 21:34:45

Its nickname Jack is certainly very common.

MelinaM Wed 18-May-11 22:04:36

Awful name, and very American sounding to boot!

usualsuspect Wed 18-May-11 22:08:52

I like the name Jackson

Rafe is a poncey name

MumblingRagDoll Wed 18-May-11 22:11:32

I think of America....Jackson's a town. "Going down to Jackson" is a song too!

ThatllDoPig Wed 18-May-11 22:15:55

I like it. Have you read the Kate Atkinson books.
Jackson Brodie is just fab.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie Wed 18-May-11 22:49:25

Horrible imho, sorry. But Rafe is awful too.

shabbapinkfrog Wed 18-May-11 22:52:06

<<looks around nervously>> I love the name and all four of my sons have real traditional older names. Go with your heart and what you like best

SandStorm Wed 18-May-11 22:53:12

I quite like Jackson.

Tigerbomb Wed 18-May-11 22:56:48

Does nobody else think of Michael Jackson or Jackson 5 when they hear the name Jackson?

PegPolkadot Wed 18-May-11 23:01:56

Not as chavvy as Jaxon in DS's class <shudder>

wheniwishuponastar Thu 19-May-11 11:41:53

i can't believe Jaxon. it looks like a jason. a cross between jackson and jason. horrible.

go for jackson!

PrincessScrumpy Thu 19-May-11 11:45:00

Avoid names that are really surnames - always chavvy

Jojay Thu 19-May-11 11:46:14

Is it chavvy? Yes, IMHO

wheniwishuponastar Thu 19-May-11 11:47:51

i dont think its chavvy at all.

jobrien1980 Thu 19-May-11 14:42:30

Yes...sorry!
