DD1 is Annabel, known as Annie. Our surname begins with a W. Which name do you prefer out of Alice v Pippa v Charlotte v Verity? Thanks for your very honest opinions...

Pippa is rather cute (but also going to be popular due to a certain new princess' sister).

Annie and Charlotte sounds lovely! x

Verity is by far the best IMO

DD's first and middle names are on your list :)

Verity is gorgeous. Go for that Smile

I was going to say Alice...but not with Annabelle.

Pippa is nice but it's a nickname you need Philippa as a given name imo.

Annabelle and Charlotte together is a bit dull for some reason although both nice individually.

Annabelle and Verity very lovely together. Go of that.

I like Annie and Pippa (Annabel and Philippa)

The only one I would consider is Verity.

There are far too many Charlotte's around here, every second person I know seems to have one, so that would rule it out for me.

Pippa, along with Petra, are my two "worst" girls names I'm afraid Blush. Just my opinion though, obviously. And I don't dislike Philippa.....

Not keen on Alice either, although it is very popular at the moment.

Annie & Verity sound good together aswell Grin.

Love Annie by the way.

I like all your options except Pippa (reminds me of Homa and Away circ 1989).

Verity is lovely.

I think Pippa is going to be the new Chardonnay I'm afraid.

I really like them all but think Verity is my favourite.

Only one I don't like is Verity. Very 1980s IMO!

Alice is a lovely name, though I'm biased it's my DD's middle name. Not keen on the others.

Hmmm thanks for the advice so far... I did have concerns re Pippa due to a certain bottom owner, my DH really likes it (probably because of the same reason it sticks in his mind!) MissMelo I do really like Lottie but dislike Charlie... DH wont go with Verity or my alternative of Felicity so the debate continues... I am 37 weeks now so better decide soon.

Having far more difficulty choosing this time.

Think Alice will definitely be middle name.

I love Verity so much. DH has vetoed it because he doesn't like what he calls Felicity type names Hmm but I'd use it in a heartbeat.

I quite like Pippa but Charlotte and Alice are a bit dull. Not offensive though.

An Italian friend recently enlightened me on what pippa meant in Italian slang.... May or may not bother those considering the name but worth knowing about if you are thinking about it. Obviously you can't allow for everything in all different languages but in case you are someone who likes to check all aspects then do google it!

I like verity best out of your list!

Pippa on its own is cute on a little girl but not so cute on an adult imo.

I'd go with Philippa nn Pippa.

I like Pippa, but now you'll look like a Middleton-wannabe if you do that! (I have a Kate, but she's older!)

Not Alice with Annabel...

Oh my gosh thanks cosytoes...!!

Although I love Verity DH is very anti - his argument - it sounds like electricity!!! Hmm

What do you think of Penelope - Penny/Nell as nns...

Penelope is horrid imo, but Nell-short-for-Eleanor quite sweet.

Pippa means something equally rude in Greek slang. I like Verity with Annabel.

I have a 2yr old Verity. DH was also not keen (he likes Sarah, Katherine etc). His main objection seemed to be that you couldn't shorten it...

He gave in just after she was born, carefully timed while we were still in the 'my DW is amazing, she's just pushed a tiny person out of her fanjo' phase.

Report
cosytoesandfingers · 16/05/2011 12:17

Apparently it means something similar in Croatia. I really like it but not sure I could use it knowing this now!

Not sure how verity sounds like electricity but then that's the sort of thing my dh would say too - can't quite figure out how they come up with these things...

I like Penelope but shortened to penel (p-nell, my dm had a friend who used this shortening... Nobody I have mentioned too likes it though!). Not wild about penny...
