If a girl, what do you think of the name Agatha? Is it too old-fashioned? 'Her' brother is called Charles.

Aggie is sweet, not sure I would go for the full on Agatha.

I don't like it at all

I actually really like it, it's not a name I have considered before!

Not keen, sorry.

Although, wasn't the horrible head mistress in Matilda called Agatha?

Report
Knofje · 27/04/2011 19:24

Love it.

Not so keen on Aggie, Thea was our choice of NN.

It's hideous.

I have an Agatha, beautiful name x

It's absolutely beautiful and much better then most of the popular (i.e. boring) names people use today.

Go for it!

Yeah, that's partly what I'm worried about. It's also the name of the really strict aunt in Bertie Wooster. I think she could be stereotyped.

Not really, how about Matilda?

I like it. Depends on your accent, though.

I think it is lovely, know an almost 4yo Agatha...Aggie for short and she is adorable...much less common than Matilda...
Also know an Agnes who is cute

Not at all keen, I like this type of name but I don't like the sound of Agatha.... prefer Agnes, Ines, Anthea, Edith, Tabitha, Martha.... not sure if that helps at all.

I prefer Agnes or Agnetha.
My gran was Agnes .

I love this name but couldn't convince my dh.
I work with a lovely one in her early 40's (agie is her preferred nn).
However she hates her name and always has simply because she was always the only one. She has deliberately picked top ten names for her girls as a result.
I think it's supposed to be having a bit of a revival among well heeled Catholics but I've yet to hear of a baby one here in Manchester.

I think Agata (Polish version I think) is absolutely lovely, and obviously can still have Aggie as a nn.
