What could Etta be short for?!

Hey all, I have fallen in love with the name Etta for a girl, but DP thinks it is too nickname-y for birth certificate...

The only name I can think of that it could be a nn for is Juliet, and that's pushing it. Plus I'm not too keen on it.

Any other suggestions?!

The Etta we know is Italian - and her full name is Guilietta

How about Marietta (I love this name and we may use it for a future DC - I love Etta but agree with your DH that it needs to be a shortening of a full name).

AFAIK Etta James was named after her father James...

Elzbieta? Not sure about spelling, but I work with a lady with that name. She's known as Ella though, but Etta would work. V pretty!

Jetta
Etta is lovely and as someone who was named a proper name but only ever called an abbreviated version of it, it can be a bit of a nuisance having 2 names
