Having a wobble over names!!

After much discussion DH and I have agreed on names, but now I am not sure!!!

For a girl we think Freya, but now I think I prefer Jennifer. My most favourite name is Morwenna but DH won't budge and won't allow it - boo. I also need a middle name of one syllable. I like May but DH doesnt!

As for boys we have found this really difficult and settled for Lucas Peter. Now I am not so sure - I like Matthew - does that go with Peter?

We already have two girls Isobel and Eleanor and our surname begins with R.

What do people think? Any alternatives spring to mind?

Many thanks Smile

Not keen on Freya, but then i don't like Jennifer either tbh.

I think to go with your other girls, i'd probably look at Laura, Lucy, Rose or Alice.

Lucas is ok, Matthews alright too, but i'm not sure Peter would work with Matthew.

I really like Freya, and jennifer is lovely and not one you hear a lot at the moment.
a one syllable middle name... hmmm, can't think, Jane/Jayne, Grace, Jade I do like May though.
I also think Matthew Peter works well or Lucas Peter, again both names you don't hear masses at the moment, especially Matthew.

Thanks Dee

Yes I like Laura and Lucy. A friend has a Lucy but I am sure she won't mind! Rose won't go with our surname and my sister has an Alice.

I think you are right that Matthew Peter don't really go, but I do like Peter as a middle name.

I need more boy inspiration!

Thanks too proper - does Matthew Peter not sound a bit biblical?

We already have Grace as a middle name, Jane is nice too, although maybe not with Jennifer?

It probably does but I don't really think that's a problem, I think boys names are really hard to choose and sometimes I think the really traditional combos work really well, also they are good choices for not dating.
Actually I think Jennifer Jane is cute!!

I prefer Jennifer. My sister is Jennifer Mary and is now called Jenny/Jen which I love.

I like Jennifer, and it's not heard so much for babies these days

I will run Jennifer past DH Wink. Although I like Lucy too.

Now for boys, what about

Luke rather than Lucas
Alexander
Soren
Marcus
Peter

Peter is my dad's name which is why I like it as a middle name. I like it as a first name too but that may push the MIL too far. Is it a bit old fashioned to name a son after your father?

It's tough when you have to square it with DHs or DPs! I wanted Pio or Mungo for my son, but DH put his foot down. I always think it's a good idea to choose a name that's not highly popular at the moment, just to stand out a bit. See where your names are on the list of the top 100 - that might help you decide. Btw, I thought of Zak at one point but it was too popular, so I plumped for Rex instead.

Morwenna's a lovely Cornish name, I wanted another Cornish name for my daughter, Kerenza, but DH didn't like it.

Jennifer is a lovely name. I have never met an unpleasant Jenny.

Unfortunately Cuppa DH has so that name has been well and truly vetoed Sad. The only girl name we can agree on is Anna. I have not broached the subject of a middle name, but I still like May so hope to slip that in if we need to Wink!

Diamond I know, I really like it and it reminds me of summer holidays we spent near Morwenstow. But DH will not have it!!

Boys are causing much debate .. Matthew is definitely out. DH doesn't like it and sits next to a Matthew at work and doesn't want him to think we named our child after him Confused. Alexander, Soren, Marcus and Peter have also been axed by DH. Only Luke is left. I quite like it but am not completely convinced.

Any more boy suggestions??

Anna is gorgeous and timeless. My fav of all the girls names here. Anna May is sweet. Love Peter - can you work on your DH to have it as a middle name? As random suggestions that I associate with Luke, what about Aaron, Gabriel, (nn maybe Gabe?) or Nathaniel? All biblical but a bit more unusual than Luke or Matthew. Thomas is also nice and would go well with your DDs.
There are a few about though.

Boys names are difficult! I'm still TTC but already have a shortlist...I know I shouldn't as it may jinx things but I can't help it!

Abraham
Elijah
Elliot
Isaac
Jamie
Jonah
Josiah
Mark
Ned
Percy
Reuben
Stanley
Toby
Tristan

I was put off the name Luke when I read a story about a couple calling their child Luke because it was an acronym of "Leeds United Kings of Europe" Hmm
