Baby names

has anyone given their DC's initials that spell a word?

What is that word and have they had any problems because of it?

We're currently struggling as we know we want to name our DS Benjamin but surname starts with G and all the middle names we like seem to spell something or otherwise unuseable e.g. BAG, BEG, BFG!

Just looking for some advice!

I think you're overanalysing this. My initials spell MAD and I've never had a problem with it - in fact I quite enjoy it.

Hedwig3 · 14/01/2011 14:17

BFG would be fab, especially if he is tiny and grumpy Grin

Don't worry.

natsmum100 · 14/01/2011 18:29

XH's initials spell his first name.Hmm

strandednomore · 14/01/2011 18:32

We chose dd2's middle name (out of a choice of 2) to start with E so it spelled MEW as she sounded like a little cat when she was born.

GoldFrakkincenseAndMyrrh · 14/01/2011 18:35

My initials spell the name of a plant. It's a bit odd...

SchnoogleDyBroogle · 14/01/2011 18:35

dd's initials spell fab because she is.

Opinionatedfreak · 14/01/2011 21:02

My initials spell another name.

It is a pain in the arse. People at work often spend ages looking for the fictional (male) person whose name my initials spell.

Ripeberry · 14/01/2011 21:07

My dds are TB and CB Grin

amateurmum · 14/01/2011 21:07

My son's initials spell a shortened form of his first name (think Benjamin Edward Nesbitt = Ben but not this!). He is 12 and thinks this is quite cool.

NewImprovedJollster · 14/01/2011 21:48

My DS is WAM

or
in his more familiar form
BAM

... I am a man, job or no job, you can't tell me that I'm not...

Mrsmackie · 14/01/2011 21:49

Our son's initials are IAM

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 14/01/2011 21:51

DS2 is ART, it's never caused him any problems.

(He's not artistic either. :( )

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 14/01/2011 21:51

surely as long as it's not POO or BUM or something then you're alright?

if DC2 had been a boy, she would have been MET. My BIL is PET. No-one really notices.

Pesha · 14/01/2011 21:54

DD is MNS, no one seems to have picked up on this yet.

At one point the names we were considering for her (with xp's surname, was his choice in the end to give her mine!) spelt BNH, I couldn't have gone through with that!

mummyneedschocolate · 14/01/2011 22:00

My DD1's initials are RED as, seeing she has red hair, it suits her & she likes it

Geepers · 14/01/2011 22:03

My sons initials spell JET.

I have a friend with a son whose initials are LORD

Geepers · 14/01/2011 22:04

Oops,, my son's initials are JOT, not JET.

bluebump · 14/01/2011 22:04

Yes, although we were about the last to notice! Our DS's first name(s) initials spell THE and the surname is Fox Grin

That'll 'out' me on here if anyone in real life who knows me reads this!

Lamorna · 14/01/2011 22:09

I thought that everyone took care with initials. It is one of the main things we considered.

scarlotti · 14/01/2011 22:10

Ha ha, I've just realised that DS2 is an ISM Grin ... better than an ology I guess!!

goondiwindi · 14/01/2011 22:13

I knew a Zac whose initials were ZAC. He thought it was cool.

WhatSheSaid · 14/01/2011 22:13

Our original choice for dd1's name spelt ARS.

We realised at the last minute and changed it.

Ds2 is NAP but he utterly refuses to have one Confused

FlorenceAndTheMachine · 14/01/2011 22:15

DD's initials are ACT. She has noticed but only to say she would sometimes like it to be CAT and then her initials would be cat (being her favourite animal).

thisisyesterday · 14/01/2011 22:18

i accidentally gave ds2 initials that spelled GEM

i didn't even realise until my friend told me, at his naming day! lol
