I think it looks a bit messy written down tbh, but sure it's a nice name

Oops sorry - I should of mentioned this is a well known Irish name (I havent just a made upish spelling or anything) smile

Raahh Sat 08-Jan-11 18:59:16

I like it- there is one in Ds's class (irish family)- he is 8. Am not sure if he spells it with one 'r' Daragh?

tallwivglasses Sat 08-Jan-11 18:59:22

Hmm, like a lot of Irish names I think they sound much better with an Irish accent.

Raahh Sat 08-Jan-11 19:02:12

I have to admit, have never been sure whether it is pronounced with a long or short 'a'. Maybe the r/rr makes a difference to the name?

Its DAR - rah

I've just realised it means fertile grin

What about Dara (as in Dara Ó Briain)?

PorkChopSter Sat 08-Jan-11 19:17:41

There's a Darragh at school who gets Dara after Dara OBriain. I like it apart from the 'confusion'

AnnOnimous Sat 08-Jan-11 19:20:13

I prefer it spelled Dara, but love the name.

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar Sat 08-Jan-11 19:24:15

I adore this name, and would have used it for DS1 except DH's cousin got there first <not bitter, honest>

GwendolineMaryLacey Sat 08-Jan-11 19:24:37

Dara or Daragh, not keen on the two rrs but love the name.

TotorosOcarina Sat 08-Jan-11 19:32:06

spelling makes it look like you are trying to cough something up.

Love it - but like many Irish names your DS will be spelling it out for the rest of his life.

BarbieLovesKen Sat 08-Jan-11 20:45:51

Thanks all.

CameronCook - we are Irish and are living in Ireland though.

Hi Barbie (waves) I knew this would be you! -- Yeah like this! I don't think its particularly difficult to spell/pronounce but there again I like Irish names! So is this on your shortlist?

i know a female Darragh and a male Dara.

i do like the name. smile

mathanxiety Sat 08-Jan-11 23:44:53

Lovely and getting more popular by the minute. I would spell it with one R, or simply Dara. I think it refers to the oak tree (an crann darach) with that spelling?

KenDoddsDadsDog Sun 09-Jan-11 08:37:56

I love it.

NannyState Sun 09-Jan-11 17:17:13

Lovely name, but prefer Dara spelling.

Nightstar Sun 09-Jan-11 17:37:29

Like Dara O'breen?

loathe him.
