Baby names

Sapphire and .....!!!!!

I need help and fast! I am due a week today, I am pregnant with fraternal twins, two girls :)
But here is where my problems begin.
I have always always loved the name Sapphire, I just love everything about and there is nothing anyone can say to put me off. My imaginary DD was always going to be Sapphire but now I'm having 2 !!!
I just can't find another girls name I like equally and don't want to do with second best as whichever child is named Sapphire seems favouritism. I have considered discounting Sapphire all together but I can't bring myself to do it.
I have two DS's called Sol and Flint... if that helps.

Please help me time is running out!!

Ruby? Or is that Cheese-tastic?! Smile

No I just have an irrational dislike to the name Ruby and its far too popular now anyway!

Another gemstone name would be too matchy IMO but how about another nature name?

Willow
Ivy
Holly
Violet
Jasmine
Aurora
Ianthe
Estella
Azalea
Clementine
May
Amber
Bryony
Margeurite
Erica
Laurel
Skye
Scarlett

Oops, Amber is a gemstone!

Sol, Flint, Sapphire and...

Genevieve
Evangeline
Arabella
Clementine
Octavia
Loveday

It definitely needs to be something pretty and with the same amount of oomph as Sapphire!

omg! when i was young my DP's split up and my mum changed her name back from my dads surname, she asked me if i wanted to change my name too and i said yes... but only to..
"Sapphire Emerald Ruby Diamond."
she said no, so I decided to keep my dads surname! LOL.

If you love it to so much I would probably not use it or give it to them both as a middle name Smile

Shoppingdays - I completely agree about not having another gem stone name its too cliche, ideally I would like another natural type name something more like sol, to balance all the names.

I like Skye. Sapphire and Skye, lovely.

I know a Sapphire, and (she is really sweet) her name when spoken is always heard as 'Sophia'. It is only when seen written that people realise her name is not Sophia, so the glamour has gone a bit for me.

I really like Pearl and probably would be the solution to my problem except my step daughter is called Pearl!

BuntyPenfold- I was wondering about Sapphire/Sophia getting mixed up but it doesn't bother me too much. Thanks my DH actually chose their names, but he did such a good job they are perfect for them!

Dd1 was very nearly Sapphire! Can I offer an 'out there' suggestion of Lilac, seeing as you like unusual names?

Report
belgo · 06/01/2011 13:36

Sapphire and Sylvia.

Bumperlicious · 06/01/2011 13:37

Or I would go for an unusual flower name like Columbine or Camelia. I think you need to go for a nature type name given the others.

Violet?

Love your sons names too :)

BuntyPenfold · 06/01/2011 13:50

I like Halcyon, but maybe I am the only one.

Amaryllis? (It's a beautiful blue flower to go with Sapphire)
