Following on from a thread I started earlier, on someone's suggestion here is a list of names I like. Can I have further ideas and suggestions please? DH and I have decided to start with a big list of names we quite like and whittle it down. All the names I like seem to have 2 syllables and end in a vowel sound - defintely a creature of habit!

Marnie
Ava
Esme
Edie
Anya
Lily
Orla

Thanks everyone, these are good, keep 'em coming!
Oh, and 'popular' doesn't really bother me as long as it's not top 10.

Darnsarfupnorf Sun 02-Jan-11 21:23:36

this is another girls name thread ive found orla on! is it really becomming that popular? confused
was gonna name my DD that but might change if its gonna be the new 'evie'

KenDoddsDadsDog Sun 02-Jan-11 21:28:03

It's always been popular in Ireland and Scotland (top 100) and is a classic name. I named my (Irish) DD Orla because it wasn't massively popular in England. Am also noticing it a lot and am a bit sad that it's losing it's roots a little.

Darnsarfupnorf Sun 02-Jan-11 21:31:51

id never heard it in england before until comming on here, id only heard it in ireland and liked how pretty it sounded esspecialy when put with her irish surname

shes not due til march though so plenty of time to fall in love with a new name i guess

flaine Sun 02-Jan-11 21:31:57

If really like Una/Oona.

Love Nuala! It's a name I was trying to recall and couldn't
darnsarf If you live it, use it!

JiltedJohnsJulie Mon 03-Jan-11 11:01:55

Darn, agree with ken. I only know 2. One is 7 and has an Irish Mum and the other has Irish grandparents and lives in Scotland.

Orla is lovely.

Sarah like Orla and Anya from your list. Like Lily too but she will be in a class of about 7 Lilys and will be known as Lilywhateveryourlastnameis for the rest of her life.

Some lovely names on this thread. How do you pronounce Nuala? Is it Nula, Nwala, or Noo-arla? Thanks!

LilRedWG Mon 03-Jan-11 11:54:02

I went to school with a Nuala _ pronounced New-la.

ChippyMinton Mon 03-Jan-11 12:03:55

Noo-la
