Benjamin,definitely Benjamin. It's lovely.

I hate the sound of Frederick, and hate the nickname 'Fred' even more.

I like Freddie, but not so keen on Frederick, and I personally prefer a long name that can be shortened if the child wants, rather than choosing the shortened name for them, so I would go for Benjamin as I like it and ben.

I like Frederick grin

Benjamin is pretty popular - one in most classes. Freddie is more popular now (round my way) but still for example only 2 in DD's school, compared to about a dozen Bens.

Both names will be shortened btw, if that bothers you.

I love Benjamin (and have a 7 year old one). We prefer Benjamin to Ben although some people do automatically call him Ben. He is almost always called Benjamin by people who know him.
