The 2010 stats are now published for Scotland. Apparently December is counted as part of 2011 for some crazy reason!

Only one other baby with the same name as DD2, rather suprised!

Only 3 baby boys with my ds's name born in Scotland last year Smile.

Can't believe that more than 600 Jacks were born last year in Scotland alone....Shock!

Isn't Daanyaal an Indian name?

Happily only one person named their daughter Unique Grin

I hope it is a child of Indian heritage, and not just one of those bloody awful alternate spellings.

There's also a Bison on the list.

None of my 3 children's names are in the top 100. Yet they are all Gaelic names.

When I had DS, his name is Struan, this other lassie there called her son Jayden-Lee.

There's another Struan in the wee village school, though.

Aye, ken. There was some other nugget called their bairn Goodluck.

I love your children's names,Expat. I'm particuarly surprised that your son's name isn't more popular.

I didn't come up with his name, though, Let. I was working in the university when I was pregnant with what turned out to be DD2.

But there was this lovely lassie from Ayrshire there was a student and she said, 'Ooo, if it's a lad, think on calling him Struan.'

So, soon enough, there was a lad. And it just seemed a good name.

Well, it's 'stream'. So there is a hamlet in Highland Perthshire called 'Struan' and we had to go have a photo of the sign. And another called 'Old Struan'.

It's a truly gorgeous name,Struan I mean. And works just as well for an adult as a baby, and all stages inbetween.

Working my way through the list of girls names now. I have no life.

I quite like Bison! Grin

Well my son's name came in the top 10 for around half the districts - but I can guarantee he's the only one in this small Dutch town.

Damn his father for not allowing Hector!

Oh my - my eyeballs have started to bleed when reading that list. Alexander-Le-Prince? Grin Anthany? Amber? Really? Wouldn't Alabaster be more appropriate? What is it with the alternative spelling?

Alexx

But you can call me Alex-Kiss
