For a girl. Too old fashioned or just right?
I love it but DP is unmoved. What do you think?

AllieW Fri 10-Dec-10 13:08:58

Not overly keen - I associate it with cows. However, I thought that about Daisy and that got remarkably popular, so who knows?

fibernachi Fri 10-Dec-10 13:11:06

Great name

JosieRosie Fri 10-Dec-10 13:15:27

I like it

Valinor Fri 10-Dec-10 13:19:47

I'm with your dh I'm afraid. When I look at the name written down I automatically think turtle which puts me off.

Sorry x

tummytickler Fri 10-Dec-10 13:35:38

I think it is lovely.

mopsyflopsy Fri 10-Dec-10 13:38:07

Try pronouncing Myrtle in any language other than English (and even in English for some smile) - very difficult!

MarniesMummy Fri 10-Dec-10 13:43:58

Mmmm! I hear you. I'm just so sad as I think it's such a lovely name. Guess I was testing the water prior to trying to convince DP.

minipie Fri 10-Dec-10 13:53:37

She'll be called Moaning Myrtle (from the Harry Potter books)

MaryBS Fri 10-Dec-10 13:58:15

I thought Moaning Myrtle from HP too. Definitely not in favour, sorry!

mistletoeploppy Fri 10-Dec-10 13:59:29

My friend has a pug called Myrtle; I still quite like the name though grin

MarniesMummy Fri 10-Dec-10 14:02:34

Of course she will.
I'd forgotten about her.

I'm leaving the name Myrtle behind now...
<<Sad but listening to reason emoticon>>

Hedwig3 Fri 10-Dec-10 14:03:15

Fabulous!

ShoppingDays Fri 10-Dec-10 14:15:55

Immediately thought of turtle. I do like Morag and Meryl though!

Suncottage Fri 10-Dec-10 14:18:40

Myrtle but nickname of Tilly

MarniesMummy Fri 10-Dec-10 14:21:42

You may be onto something.

Suncottage Fri 10-Dec-10 14:46:02

Oooh OP who is on to something?

[Very, very excited]

imahappycamper Fri 10-Dec-10 17:27:52

I was at school with a Myrtle who started using her second name as soon as she possibly could.

maktaitai Fri 10-Dec-10 17:30:18

Mirren
Miranda

Rosemary
Rowan

Any of these appealing? [desperate]

Rhubarbgarden Fri 10-Dec-10 18:34:58

I love Myrtle. I started a thread on it quite recently. Everyone said turtle sad

RockinRobinBird Fri 10-Dec-10 18:37:35

Absolutely bloody hideous.

DilysPrice Fri 10-Dec-10 18:39:52

I'd expect people to still be reading/watching Harry Potter in ten/twenty years time, so that'll be a no.

BarbieLovesKen Fri 10-Dec-10 22:11:28

Im really sorry but I cannot possibly think of a more awful or horrible name. Really terrible.

MelinaM Fri 10-Dec-10 22:12:03

Oh I love this name, sod Harry Potter!!!! x

AnnOnimous Fri 10-Dec-10 23:42:49
