Ok, dc 2 on the way.....here are the contenders for both pink and blue. I know the boys names are relatively popular but we really like them (oh, and a lot of the middle names have a family connection just in case you are a bit Hmm). Also, surname is 2 syllable beginning with D:
Girls:
Seren Hope
Seren Scarlett
Phoebe ??? (not sure about middles with this)
Jasmine (ditto)
Esme Alison

Also like Thea, Poppy and Tess

Boys:
Oscar Harry
Finlay Harry
Finlay Benjamin
Oscar Benjamin

Would welcome other similar ideas....many thanks

I really like Seren, Hope, Jasmine and Esme.

Phoebe is ok. Alison is a bit dated, but may be due a revival.

Thea and Tess are nice (but if you call her Thea, pray she doesn't have a lisp). Poppy is cute for a middle name but too cutesy for a first name.

Finlay Benjamin is my favourite of your boys' names.

Don't like Seren I'm afraid. Looks a bit like Serena spelt wrong and seems like its trying a bit too hard to be different. Love Alison and Hope as middle names. Quite like Phoebe or Esme as first names.

Prefer Oscar to Finlay. I think my favourite boy combination is Oscar Benjamin

Wow the previous poster really does need some sleep!

I have an Oscar AND a Finlay so I think you (the original poster) have marvellous taste in boys' names :) I could not pick between them but would go for Benjamin as the middle name.

Tess and Esme are very nice, in fact all are nice but these are my favourites.

Thanks for all the replies, i think this has clarified my boys name a bit, I'm still a bit stuck with the girls names and what middle names go with what.....I know Alison is very dated but its my mums name and we honoured dh's family in naming our ds1 so feel I'd like to tip my hat at my family somehow (hence Harry and Benjamin) and quite frankly my Grannys name was bloody awful so my mums is the lesser of 2 evils....mind you they wont care either way....hmmmm, decisions!one more q; what middle names do you think go with Esme?

Esme Scarlett is cute. Maybe Esme Tess?

What about using Alice instead of Alison? Based on family name but not exactly the same, IYSWIM. Does Granny's name have a similar variation or derivative that is nice?

JFly · 17/11/2010 15:00

Ditto to using Harriet if Harry is the connection to your family. (Trying to be creative!)

I love Esme Alison! I think Alison is nice and it's lovely that it has meaning for you. The name also flows beautifully.

Really like Thea and Tess, too.

Seren is a beautiful name(uncommon without being to unusual), but I don't like it with either Hope (it does sound like a hospice) or Scarlett. I think Seren Alison works much better, or Seren Esme.

Report
Edmundo · 17/11/2010 15:59

I love Tess. Such a simple nice name!

I much prefer Finlay to Oscar. There are Oscars popping up everywhere and statistically is more popular than Finlay.

Tess Alison & Finlay Benjamin :)
