Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

Can I suggest you leave the Eve/Erin middle name alone if your surname starts with G?

Have to say I prefer Melody to Sonnet. How about Anne as a (classic) middle name?

What are your other dcs called btw? It would be good to have names which go together well.

Grin We are ok - it starts with an 'f'.

You are completely bonkers.

And I [heart] you Grin

Classic 'E' girl's name? Well Elizabeth is getting rave reviews at the moment...

I have really enjoyed your threads and actually quite liked your unusual choice of names.
However:
Please not Winter. Imagine when you introduce two of your children as seasons! You have another one called something else, don't you? They'll wonder if you just didn't like the other seasons!
Also he will be called Winnie.
Also, Winter seems like a girl's name.
Also Winter Beau Alexander does not flow well, to me.

I like all your middle names for the girl's name though. Erin probably my favourite.

Sonnet Melody Tune
Sonnet Melody Ode
Sonnet Melody Harmony
Sonnet Melody Verse

I dunno - there's loads.

Winter? Why don't you just name the poor boy Kick Me? It's even worse when you already have a child with a seasonal name.

Winter is bloody ridiculous. Soren was nice, and sane.

I hope the pregnancy hormone induced daze wears off soon.

Agree that Winter is a girl's name!

And methinks that little Sonnet will be using that "sensible" third name once she realises what a daft name she has.

Sorry to be so abrupt but your name choices are truely bonkers!

LetThereBeRock · 02/10/2010 23:38

And it's not you who has to care what others think,it's the poor child.

There's nothing wrong with unusual names, so long as they don't verge on the ridiculous. But you've crossed that line.

Why not Beau as a first name?

LynetteScavo · 02/10/2010 23:41

Why do you need three names? Just have confidence in the first two.

I agree that Winter sounds like a girl's name. I wouldn't use anything that can be shortened to Winnie for a boy.

I know a boy named Flint; do you like that?

I like Beau Alexander.

I know an Autumn and I went to school with a Melody so they don't sound odd to me.

The only thing I have against Sonnet is the T would not be pronounced. I hear so many Ka'ie and Na'alie names with the t not pronounced, that I would not use a name with a t in it for that reason. But that's just me.

Beau is better than Winter IMO.

Especially as you already have Autumn.

I agree with others that it sounds like a girl's name.

Your girl's name is gorgeous.

Must be in the minority here because I like your names!

I do sympathise with your desire not to name your baby another Jack, Oliver, Lily, Eve etc.

It is hard to find that middle ground of unusual but not wacky.

And who knows, you may start a trend.

My mother remembers Hayley as a really way-out name she couldn't believe had been chosen.

You cannot, really cannot, have an Autumn and a Winter......

Report
LyraSilvertongue · 03/10/2010 00:09

You can't have two children named Autumn and Winter. Please don't do it to them.

Report
A1980 · 03/10/2010 00:30

I would shuffle the names:

Alexander Winter Beau
Melody Sonnet .....

Alexander is a great name for a boy and the worst you can do with it is Alex which is a great name for a boy.

Melody isn't too out of the ordinary as there was one in my school.

I'm so sorry to trash your choice of names but there's being different and there's being daft. Sonnet is awful. As is Winter when you already have a child named Autumn.

Thanks for the feedback as usual. Really like our names. Having looked up guys called Winter lots of them go by the nn Wynne (which I like). Agree. Winnie is horrible for a boy.

At least you know how to pronounce it (unlike Soren).

To me, winter conjures up a really nice image.

Right, off to bed. Will only reconsider if we get a vote of 50 to 0. I think at the moment I have one person on my side (thanks seaturtle).

Call the boy Sonnet, then he can be Sonny if he wants. When are you due, cos I quite like October ...

Report
LetThereBeRock · 03/10/2010 00:47

Why not just Wynne then? You really cannot call a boy Winter. It's bloody cruel. He has to live with it,and the bullying and teasing that will result from it, not you.

Report
takingchances · 03/10/2010 00:51

A 1980 - couldn't agree more. Your reshuffle is fab...
Alexander Winter Beau
Melody Sonnet
I like Emeline for a girl's name beginning with E.

If the Winter thing is really happening then yes call the child Wynne from day 1. Winter is just plain mean.
