as yellowflowers says. Lots in late 20s and all through 30s. None that I know of in DS's nursery though. I love it but couldn't use it myself as we know so many, it would be confusing! It may well be a middle name for any future DS though. Classic and shortens well.

One in most classes in the posher bits of town. Not quite as popular as Thomas, James and Matthew - but pretty popular.

I quite like it in the female variations though.

My DS is an Alexander. He is 10. It is also my brothers middle name. He is 33.

4

My DS who is 2.5
Another little boy at nursery who is 1
My uncle who is 58, his son who is 24 and his son who is newborn.

Was also my grandad's name (and it was his father's name.)

I think it's the most perfect boys name. If I had another boy I honestly don't know how I would find anything close!

Not 4...5 (Doh!)

It's a great name! it is also in the top 20 most popular boys names for the last few years in all English-speaking countries.

Does that help?

Quite a few boys of the 3,4,5,6,7 age range.

Know as Lexi, Xander, Alex, Alec, Sandy, all sorts..... rarely the full version of the name.

Also a few girls, not so many, usually Lexie. Or of course, Alexandra!

It's an excellent name, good and strong (Alexander the Great was Great for a reason) and easily stands the test of time.

There were 3 boy Alexs in my class at school (I'm 27)

Also an Alexandra (Alex for short). And an Alix (girl) I knew.

I once had a boyfriend called Alexander.

There were two in my halls of residence. Both male, one called himself Axel and one Xander.

Friends of my family have a 10 year old Alex. Other friends of the family have a 17 year old Alex.

My nephew is Alex (he is 21 months).

There is a 4 year old Alex at my DD's nursery.

I know THREE 3 year old Alexanders, a 1 year old Xander, and a newborn Zander.

My yoga teacher's little boy is called Alex, but I don't know his age. My DD's swim instructor is Alex (feamle, early thirties)

I can think of about 20 off the top of my head.

I know one child, who is 5 -- he's actually an Alessandro but is Alex for short. And I know an Alexa (girl) who is 2.

I'm sure I know plenty of adults named Alex but my mind has suddenly gone blank.

Only the one, my ds who is 6. We have Alexander on his birth certificate but he is called Alex. He enjoys the fact that his name can be changed to different variations as well.

I agree with the others who said that it's a great boys name and it is a real classic name that stands the test of time. My dh and I took no time at all deciding on it.

I know a 2-year-old boy called Alex and a 10-year-old girl called Alex. And a 30-something man called Alex.

I didn't really need to repeat Alex that many times did I?

I know two, who call themselves Alex:
Alexandra (5)
Alexander (5)

Hmm...

There were 8 'Alex's' in my year at school (would now be aged 19).
2 girls aged about 16 and 13 in the church choir.
One who I used to ride with, again a girl.
One boy in the year above who was a complete rebel but quite good-looking.

so 12 'Alex's' all together, I think. There may be one or two who I left out.
