Hi there,

We're making plans to update our baby monitor reviews and we'd love to hear about the monitors that you've used and would recommend to other parents.

Your suggestions will help us to create a shortlist of products to test over three months, as we try to find the best value baby monitor on the market.

Also, if you have any tips for new parents on how to choose the right baby monitor, or in fact, how to decide whether you actually need one, please do share them on this thread.

Thanks!

Nest camera up in the baby's room! We're delighted with ours

I definitely wanted video, and one that could be accessed from our phones. We inherited one with a breathing monitor, but our son was in the same room as us until the biggest SIDS risk had passed, so I didn't feel I needed to use the mattress plate at all.

After a stay in SCBU with a breathing monitor attached 24/7 we decided the angelcare monitor and mat where best for us!
Only downside is the mat doesn't fit in a Moses basket so while had to use his cot from birth but worth it for the peace of mind!

We have a bt video monitor. Its handy as you can talk to baby through it as well as hear them so on several occasions when ds has stirred I've been able to sing a few lines to him over the monitor and settle him rather than get up.

Angelcare is definitely the best one I have ever used. Great peace of mind. I have also used the Summer infant range which I found awful and poor quality.

We've got a HelloBaby video monitor for DD. No complaints. Wish we'd had a video monitor with DS. Only thing I wish it did is play white noise!

One from amazon for less than £40. Zeepin baby monitor it’s called. It’s fab. Video monitor, automatic night vision, can talk through it to baby, turn night light on and off from monitor. Also displays room temperature. Can’t fault it.

Babymoov Yoo Travel. Amazing battery life. I can go the whole night and morning nap before needing to charge it.
It has talkback, temperature and great night vision. My parents used it once and wanted to get one to keep at theirs until I pointed out that they didn't need one as it's so portable.

We had an angelcare with a sensor mat, it gave me extra peace of mind and helped me sleep better! We haven't bothered with video, we found a sound one sufficient for our needs.

Angel care. Didn't use the mat. Never wanted or saw the need for a video monitor.

Angelcare sensor mat every time. Actively avoided video because of security issues and have always (3) found sensor and sound enough.

Lollipop monitor. Actually looks nice and never had any problems.

We were very happy with the angelcare but I'd recommend the larger screen version. The sensor mat was a total waste of money as our baby was in a co sleeper cot initially so mat not needed/recommended and then in a big cot it wouldn't work as they'd always be rolling off it. It's still in the box untouched!! If you want a breathing monitor I'd get one that clips on their nappy like is recommended for prem babies and then just get an angelcare or whatever brand you prefer video monitor.

Motorola. The camera and sound are amazing. White noise. Ability to talk back through it. Temperature. CRAP battery though so needs to stay plugged in.

The very basic Motorola which is about £10. It has done the job perfectly well. I never felt the need for video monitoring.

Angelcare was (and is) brilliant. DS wouldn't sleep more than 30 mins in his cot unless on his tummy, so we used the breathing mat till he turned 8 months (probably overkill but he's our PFB...) and now use it without the mat.

We've used the angelcare wireless mat and video monitor and loved it. We have a quiet baby so video has been brilliant (especially when hoovering/having music on and they're asleep) and sound wouldn't have been enough for us. The wireless mat means it's gone in their bedside crib just fine and means I can sleep without worrying.

This is great news. I expecting a second baby in Sept and my old by video monitor has broken.
Look forward to reading.

@ColdCottage we should have the results in from this years testing at the end of this month. I'll post our findings here as soon as I get them.

Thanks!
